3 Balance & Omega 3 1) What is inflammation? Inflammation is a process that can exert both positive and negative effects on our health. The acute inflammatory response is generally positive. It is an important part of the body s defence against invading pathogens, and the response to injury. Symptoms include swelling, redness, pain and an increase in temperature in the affected area. But if acute inflammation fails to resolve the problem, chronic inflammation may develop, and this is generally negative. Chronic inflammation is now known to play a critical role in driving most if not all the chronic degenerative diseases. There is overwhelming evidence that we have recently become far more prone to chronic inflammation, due to the progressive removal of anti-inflammatory compounds from our diet, such as Vitamin D and long chained polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids and pholyphenols. According to REGULATION (EC) No 1924/2006 & REGULATION (EU) No 432/2012: BalanceOil is a source of Vitamin D. (The claim BalanceOil is high in vitamin D can be used for dosages of BalanceOil from 12 ml and above). EU Health claims on Vitamin D in BalanceOil: Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption/utilization of calcium and phosphorus, normal blood calcium levels, maintenance of normal bones, maintenance of normal muscle function, maintenance of normal teeth, normal function of immune system and inflammation response. It also has a role in the process of cell division. 2) What is omega-3? Omega-3 is a collective term for a group of long-chained polyunsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids are essential fatty acids meaning that you can only get them through your diet, and that your body can not produce them itself. There are different types of omega-3 fatty acids, but the omega-3 fatty acids with chain length of 20 or more carbons are the most important. These are entitled Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA or C20:5n-3) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA or C 22:6n-3). According to REGULATION (EC) No 1924/2006 & REGULATION (EU) No 432/2012: The European Union have approved the following claims for EPA and DHA: - EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart - DHA contribute to the maintainance of normal vision - DHA contribute to the normal brain function - DHA and EPA (2 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride concentrations (max 5 g EPA+DHA). - DHA and EPA (3 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood pressures (max 5 g EPA+DHA). 3) Why is it important to be in balance? The present Western diet is deficient in omega-3 fatty acids with a high omega-6 to omega-3 balance. The increased amounts of omega-6 in the Western diet and low intake of omega-3 may cause an increased susceptibility to lifestyle related problems. The reason for this is that signaling molecules derived from omega-6 are formed in much larger amounts when a diet is high in omega-6 and low in omega-3. The signaling molecules from omega-6 produce pro-inflammatory components. Signaling molecules derived from omega-3 fatty acids produce anti-inflammatory components in the body, and it is therefore important that there is a balance between omega-6 and omega-3 in your diet. Humans were designed to have a 1:1 balance between omega-6 and omega-3. Nordic Council of Ministers and most government health authorities state that the recommended balance in diet should be below 5:1. 4) What type of food in our daily diet contains much omega-6 fatty acids? Animal meat and eggs constitute the food groups that are highest in the omega-6 fatty acid, arachidonic acid (AA). Other type of omega-6 fatty acids are found in vegetable oils such as soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil and so on, and therefore in most of the foods that we eat on a daily basis. 5) Where can I find omega-3 in food? Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) are mainly found in oily fish such as sardines, mackerel, anchovis, salmon etc. There is also plant sources of Omega-3 such as alphalinolenic acid (ALA) found in some vegetable oils. Our bodies can make EPA and DHA from ALA, but this process is very limited and inefficient. It is hardly possible to achieve a recommended Omega-balance through mainly eating a vegetarian diet. The simple way to achieve high EPA and DHA levels is through the use of the Zinzino balance products. 6) What else is omega-3 supplement good for? Omega-3 supplements are important to increase the omega-3 content in your diet and to achieve balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory components in your body. In addition omega-3 are important for a natural and healthy development and growth. Growing scientific evidence show that omega-3 (EPA and DHA) are important for our cardiovascular health, cognitive performance, mood and behavior, and not at least fetus development. 3

4 According to REGULATION (EC) No 1924/2006 & REGULATION (EU) No 432/2012: So far EPA and DHA have 5 EU health claims; - EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart - DHA contribute to the maintenance of normal vision - DHA contribute to the normal brain function - DHA and EPA (2 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride concentrations (max 5 g EPA+DHA). - DHA and EPA (3 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood pressures (max 5 g EPA+DHA). 7) How much omega-3 do I need? The recommended daily intake of EPA and DHA differentiates between health organizations and between countries, see examples below. But, since our diet contains so much omega-6 compared to omega-3, we need more omega-3 to achieve balance than stated in the recommendations below. - EFSA (European Food Safety Authority); 250 mg EPA+DHA/day - American Heart Association; Two serving of fatty fish per week - ISSFAL (International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids); Minimum 500 mg EPA+DHA/day - WHO (World Health Organization); mg EPA+DHA/day 8) Is it possible to overdose on omega-3? The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published in 2012 a scientific opinion on the tolerable upper intake of EPA and DHA, stating that supplemental intakes of EPA and DHA combined at doses up to 5 g/day, and supplemental intakes of EPA alone up to 1.8 g/day, do not raise safety concerns for the adult population. The Panel also considers supplemental intakes of DHA alone up to about 1 g/day do not raise safety concerns for the general population. Supplemental intakes of EPA and DHA combined at doses up to 5 g/day would mean > 30 ml BalanceOil per day. Zinzino Balance Products 9) Why are Zinzino s products better than ordinary omega-3 products? Zinzino Balance product provides not only omega-3 supplements, but also an opportunity to actually monitor the fatty acid profile in your blood, which again reflects your diet. With high dosages of BalanceOil, the following claim can be used: Health claim on olive oil polyphenols: - Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress - The claim may be used only for olive oil that contains at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives (e.g. oleuropein complex and tyrosol) per 20 g of olive oil. In order to bear the claim information shall be giv en to the consumer that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil. BalanceOil is a source of Vitamin D. Yes, BalanceOil is a dietary supplement that is intended to provide nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities in your daily diet. 12) Is this all that is needed to achieve a balanced diet? There is a difference between balance (between omega-6 and omega-3) and a balanced diet. The Balance products will provide you with essential nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities in your normal diet, such as the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. 5 13) Is there a documented effect on BalanceOil? The ingredients in BalanceOil such as EPA, DHA, polyphenols and D vitamin are scientific well documented. Why do Zinzino Balance products have more EPA than DHA? Results from BalanceTest shows that the ratio of EPA and DHA in what you eat is not reflected in the blood, meaning that it is the amount of EPA and DHA in what you eat that is important and not that much the ratio between EPA and DHA. 15) What is the shake made of? BalanceShake contains BalanceOil in powderform, and among other, milk proteins, fiber, Vitamin B 1 -B 12, Vitamin D, Vitamin K 2, Vitamin C, potassium, calcium, phosphorous, selenium and 1,3-1,6 beta glucans from yeast. BalanceShake is an alternative to BalanceOil with the same health promoting effects, and can be used by all the members of the family (except children under 12 months). BalanceShake contains enough BalanceOil to balance the omega-6/omega-3 if it is used according to specifications on the package every day for 120 days. You can exchange between using a daily dosage of BalanceOil or Shake if preferred, to get some variation. The shake also contains some vitamins, minerals and 1,3-1,6 beta glucans from yeast. The shake contain a mixture of ingredients which otherwise would be very expensive to buy separately. The shake provide it all in one package. 17) What type of Vitamin D do we use? Vitamin D 3 18) Can you overdose on Vitamin D? The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published in 2012 a scientific opinion on the tolerable upper level for vitamin D for adults, including pregnant and lactating women, this upper limit is 100 µg/day. For children and adolescents, the UL has been set at 50 μg/day for ages 1-10 years, and at 100 μg/day for ages years. For infants up to one year of age, the UL is 25 μg/day. 19) What type of protein is in the shake? Whey protein and casein, both from milk. 20) Why is the oil/shake bioactive? They are bioactive because when you consume these products they change composition and the balance between active components in your body, creating physiological effects. 21) What kind of fish does our omega-3 come from? The fish oil in BalanceOil is defined by a specified description of the fatty acid composition of the oil, and not from single fish species. The fish raw material can vary throughout the season. Some of the fish that is used are: sardines, mackerel and anchovies. 22) Do we use any endangered fish species in making of our balance products? No. 23) Are we using any concentrate in the products and if not, why? No. We only use fully natural fish oil and olive oil that is built from natural triglycerides. 24) Are the flavours (lemon, vanilla and strawberry) in the Balanceproducts natural or artificial flavours? The lemon flavor in BalanceOil is natural, while the vanilla and strawberry flavors are combinations between artificial and natural components. The main components in the vanilla and strawberry are artificial. 25) Can Zinzino say and how Zinzino can prove that our products are free of dangerous ingredients like mercury, cadmium, lead, PCB s etc? The products follow EU legislation, meaning that the products are below limit values of for example copper, iron, arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury, dioxins and PCB`s. The products are analyzed regularly. 26) Why does the shake contain milk proteins and lactose? Milk consists of two main types of protein, one is casein and the other is whey. Casein is the protein that cheese is made of and it is also the most common protein in foods. In order to make the oil into powder we are using a matrix of carbohydrate and protein. Not all carbohydrates or proteins are suitable, but casein is a very suitable protein for this process. Milk proteins are also involved in creating texture, mouth feel and an emulsion of the shake. Lactose, or milk sugar, is found in small amounts in the milk protein mix used in the shake. 6

7 27) Can Zinzino guarantee that milk what is used in BalanceShake is free of rbst, rbgh & GMO? All the ingredients in the Balance products are GMO free. Ingredients containing milk is free from hormonal preparations such as recombinant bovine somatotropin hormone. 28) Is there added any gelatin in the balance products? No. 29) Should I take Zinzino Balance products during specific seasons, f.ex. like in the winter? You need to use Zinzino balance products every day all year around to stay balanced. 30) Is the plastic bottle free of BPA and PVC? Both the plastic bottle and the cap are free from PVC and BPA. Production Process 31) Is the olive oil cold pressed and what does cold pressed really mean? The olive oil used in the Balance products is an extra virgin olive oil which is collected from the first cold pressing (top quality). Cold pressing means that minimal heat is involved when the oil is squeezed from the olive fruit using only pressure. In this way the oil contains most of the minor components and antioxidants that normally are lost by heating, solvent extraction and refining of the oil. 32) Are the olives growing without any chemicals and pesticides? Olives are quite resistance to pests, so the olive producers do not apply pesticides, unless they are obliged to avoid the loss of production, due to control plaques and diseases of olives. The olive oil is analyzed for pesticides. If the olive oil should be used for human consumption, the residues of pesticides must be below limit values set by EU regulations. The extra virgin olive oil used in the balance products are below the limit values. 33) What is the production process of the BalanceOil and can you list the ingredients? Ingredients in BalanceOil: Fish oil, cold pressed olive oil, mixed tocopherols, aroma (citrus or vanilla) and Vitamin D. The BalanceOil is produced at Lysi in Iceland which is an ISO-certificated and GMP-certificated (Good Manufacturing Practice) factory. 34) What is the production process of the BalanceShake and can you list the ingredients? BalanceOil is made into powder and mixed with other ingredients to the end product which is BalanceShake. The production is done at ISO-certificated and GMP-certificated (Good Manufacturing Practice) factories. The other solution is to wait with testing your customer until they receive it in their first delivery. 43) What are the rules for use of Zinzino BalanceTest? Zinzino BalanceTest is a home test kit. You can use it at home, in a conference room or in your office. It is not approved for use in public places like a hotel lobby or a restaurant. Please respect that. Before you do the test, read the instructions, watch the instructional film and give yourself plenty of time until you feel confident at testing. It is recommended to use the ring finger and to take the test on the hand the individual is not using for writing. Only assist in testing if you are given permission. Always help your customer to fill out all the necessary paperwork, but remember, never touch the test paper to avoid contamination of the test. We also recommend that you collect the test envelope from you customer and ensure that postage is added (for Norway) on the envelope so you ensure that the test will be sent to the test lab as soon as possible. 44) How many tests have been analyzed at this point? Our leading laboratories in the Nordic countries tested people in the Spring of The average Omega 6:3 ratio for those not taking an Omega-3 supplement was 12:1 in Europe (25:1 in the USA). In Northern Europe, the ratio was 7:1 for those taking an Omega 3 supplement (12:1 in the USA). For those who took BalanceOil for 120 days, the average ratio was close to 3:1. First of all, make sure that you have taken the balance product daily, and that you have taken the right amount for your body weight. For oil the daily dosage is 0,15 ml x body weight, for shake 0,5g x body weight. If you have taken correct daily dosages for 120 days and are not totally in balance then increase your BalanceOil intake with 25 % for around 2 months and take a new test. 9 Use & Storage 48) Why should I use the oil for 120 days? It takes approximately 120 days for all the red blood cells to renew themselves. Since the test is measured in whole blood you ll first see your most correct result after this period. Remember that you have to maintain with daily doses of oil /shake to keep your balance. It only takes another 120 days to get out of balance again if you stop taking the oil. The cells in the body renews itself every day, depending on whether we are talking about skin, immune system and other types of cells. So to be in balance requires one daily dose of oil. 49) Should we take Zinzino BalanceOil together with food? There is no rule for when to take BalanceOil or powder. Many people find it best to take the products with food rather than on an empty stomach. You may want to take it with food so that you do not experience nausea which may occur for some people due to decomposing of fat in the body. If you have never taken omega-3 in liquid form before, we recommend that you start with a teaspoon and increase your daily dose over a two week period. 50) How much do I take?
