2 Annual Update Meeting «Orthopedics from the city to the regional areas» September 27 th and 28 th, 2018, Lévis Convention Center Scientific program Guest speaker: Dr Mohit Bhandari McMaster University, Hamilton General Hospital Scientific committee Continued professional development committee of the QOA. Target audience This program is aimed at orthopedic surgeons practicing in Quebec, whether in the academic or regional community, at orthopedic residents from the various Quebec University programs, as well as health professionals working in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, research staff, etc.). Global objectives for the activity At the end of this annual update meeting on orthopedic practice, the participant will be able to : 1. List the standards of practice for record keeping as well as the common risk factors for complaints and prosecution for practicing orthopedists and ways to avoid them (Expert- Knowledge). 2. Identify the challenges and administrative pitfalls that the orthopedic surgeon can face when treating patients having suffered a work-related accident (Expert-Knowledge). 3. Identify the challenges that can arise when pursuing a career as an orthopedic surgeon, outside those directly associated with medical practice, with advice on how to overcome them and reflect on how to transition into retirement (Knowledge Management Expert).

Recognize, despite not having specialized in orthopedic pediatrics, pediatric pathologies requiring a relatively prompt intervention and begin appropriate management (Management-Knowledge-Expert). 5. Detect potential instances of mistreatment or spousal abuse in patients evaluated at the fracture clinic and know the appropriate resources to recommend while collaborating with the other professionals involved. (Expert-Collaboration-Communication-Health Promotion). 6. Even when not a specialized oncologist practitioner, provide care to patients presenting with a suspicious lesion, know how to perform the appropriate investigations and, in some cases, know and carry out the definitive treatment (Expert- Knowledge- Health Promotion) 7.
