Safety approach; clear, conservative scope of practice (educating MDs/RNs about this) Speaking to MDs in professional terms with concrete benefits (NOT just massage feels good ) Clear reductions in symptoms. Data, outcomes, even if just in-house data Continued in-services Continued community outreach Strong business model Training program (MT staff well-educated in hospital massage, contraindications, referral skills, infection control, communication w/patients/mds/nurses) 34 Challenges Can t support a dedicated MT position in house for inpatient massage. Can t support free massage. Can t convert more contingent staff to benefited staff right now. Grew too fast didn t have administrative infrastructure/support to do what was needed. 35 Rewards 36 12
