The office of President-Elect holds many responsibilities in the coming term related to exploring the vast shift in communication and organization. Over the past three years, PTAG has seen a shift in the way leadership, communication and inclusiveness is carried out and implemented within the Chapter. PTAG has shifted from our past organization structure of districts to local area networks and focused interest networks. This was done in order to enhance the communication, organization and opportunity for members within the Chapter. As a recent member of the Board of Directors, I was part of the discussion for this shift in leadership and organization within PTAG. This new structure has now been in place for a short amount of time and will require the leadership of PTAG to evaluate and gauge the successes or shortcomings of this new system. As with any new system, it will require an in-depth assessment, and the organization should seek to enhance as needed to improve the value that the organization provides to the members. My role as President-Elect in the current future would be to help President Balmes in any and all duties assigned. I would use this first year to enhance my understanding of the current state of PTAG, as well as benchmark our association against other physical therapy associations in the United States to enhance our outcomes and our inclusiveness to our members. If elected, what will be your contribution to the position? Upon assuming the office of President if elected, my role would be to represent the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia and the membership to the best of my abilities, to promote the profession of physical therapy to external stakeholders, and to protect and promote the rights of the patients that we serve. I seek to do this through my leadership experiences at both the state and national association levels, as they have provided me with a unique skill set and vast network of contacts to assist in this role. With potential legislation involving a licensure compact and fair co-pays impacting the way that we can provide care on the horizon, my focus would be on protecting and enhancing the rights of the membership. I would provide attention to detail while also bringing an outlook that is both fiscally responsible and understanding of the current budget of the association. I thank you for your consideration for the position of President-Elect, welcome any questions that you may have, and look forward to serving the association if elected. dcdale33@gmail.com, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 Page 4 of 21

As an APTA Student PT Delegate and as a current delegate for Georgia, I have had experience understanding the responsibilities as a delegate. Serving as an alternate delegate in the 2017 House of Delegates was a valuable experience and provided me with a greater understanding of the responsibilities of this role. The delegates have a great responsibility in shaping guiding principles of the profession and its direction. I was inspired by the passion the delegates displayed and their desire to better the field of physical therapy. While there were many disagreements, the overall intent to better position us to impact current and future patients was evident. This experience provided me greater insight into the major responsibilities of the role. Delegates have many important responsibilities to their chapters including advocating for new and updated policies that will provide clear professional direction and goals, allow for greater access to and education of patients, and improved professional development opportunities. They need to be knowledgeable in the current events and issues in the field of physical therapy and healthcare. If elected, I will contribute my experience in education, management, and leadership to represent the chapter and its members to the best of my ability. These experiences, along with managing multiple clinics, has afforded me the opportunity to better understand current issues with education, reimbursement, student loans, and variability in clinical practice. As a delegate, I will be able to speak on these issues to bring about positive change for the profession representative of the chapter s members. I constantly seek feedback and opportunities to better myself and this profession.
