2 2nd Dublin INFANT HIP ULTRASOUND COURSE (GRAF COURSE) The course followed the same format as the hugely popular course run by Dr Sally Scott in the UK for the last 27 years. Professor Graf was again the main lecturer. It was organised by Dr Scott in conjunction with the Irish National Clinical Programme for Paediatrics and Neonatology, The course aimed to provide the participants with a thorough understanding of the the role of Ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of Developmental Dysyplasia of the Hip (previously known as Congenital Dislocation of the Hip). Course Information Course date: 8th to 10th December 2017 Venue: The National Maternity Hospital, 2 Holles Street, Dublin 2 Ireland Attendance: 37 Delegates Aimed at: Medical Students Foundation Year Doctors Faculty: Surgeons Course fee: Student The course covered the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to perform and interpret infant hip ultrasound examinations, and the management based on ultrasound findings. Aspects such as the choice of equipment and setting up an ultrasound service were also covered. 1

8 Individual Comments A great course! I wish there was a longer segment on the treatment part. GH Namsos Sykehus The organisation was excellent, it was easy to register, we had everything we needed prepared for us, they even brought patients so our practice was best possible. The teaching was excellent. I do not imagine a better way of learning hip sonography except professor Graf, who is a pioneer. Not just he invented the method, he explained to us so clearly, that it was easy for us to understand everything. He standardized the hip sonography, but he made it so simple that is easy to understand. Dr Sally Scott and our colleagues from Ireland helped us very much during practical sessions, by explaining every case one by one. All of them were very friendly but most of all I was impressed about professor's Graf German rigor. He did not allow us to do things less than excellent. He is a great professor and it was an honour learning hip sonography from him and his team.
