Most of the orthopaedic experts from aboard attending the Annual Hong Kong Orthopaedic Meeting in 2006 will also be attending and presenting at the COA meeting.

Lecture topics will be include the latest clinical experience and development discussion covering: spine surgery, trauma, joint surgery, arthroscopy, sports medicine, bone tumors, osteoporosis, ankle

English will be the official language used at the international sessions.

3 Welcome Messages Dear Colleagues and Friends: It is my pleasure and privilege to invite you to participate in the First International Congress of Chinese Orthopaedics Association (COA2006) in Beijing on November 12-15, The meeting will be the largest orthopedics conference ever held in China. Renowned experts from all over the world will attend and present at this meeting. Most of the orthopaedic experts from aboard attending the Annual Hong Kong Orthopaedic Meeting in 2006 will also be attending and presenting at the COA meeting. We can expect important new information to be presented by these participants. International manufacturers have also been invited to exhibit and we are expecting significant industrial participation. Lecture topics will be include the latest clinical experience and development discussion covering: spine surgery, trauma, joint surgery, arthroscopy, sports medicine, bone tumors, osteoporosis, ankle surgery and minimally invasive techniques. There will also be a special international session, special topic lectures, congress repsots and posters. English will be the official language used at the international sessions. The First Annual Meeting of the Chinese Orthopaedic Research Society (CORS) will be held prior to COA2006 on November 11-12th, This will be a milestone in Chinese Orthopaedic Community to have the first combined meeting of CORS and COA. Both basic and clinical research scientists will benefit form the combined meeting. As the capital of China, as well as the political, economic, and cultural center of the country, Beijing is a city with oriental and western characteristics. You can find both modern architecture here. In autumn, the red leaves paint a glorious and charming scene. I trust everyone attending the COA2006 in Beijing will enjoy their visit. Guixing Qiu President, Chinese Orthopaedic Association, (COA) Chairman, Organizing Committee, COA2006 Dear Colleagues and Friends: It is my great pleasure to invite you to join us in the First Annual Meeting of the Chinese Orthopaedic Research Society (CORS) to be held in Beijing on Nov. 11th-12th, The meeting would be the most significant event of the basic research within the Chinese Orthopaedic Surgeon Society and a conjunctional part of the Annual Meeting of the Chinese Orthopaedic Association (COA) on Nov. 12th- 15th, The rapid development of our orthopaedic surgery in the recent years attributed to the innovation in basic science, especially in biomechanics, bioengineering, and material sciences. It is exciting that more and more orthopaedic surgeons have recognized the importance of basic science and devoted themselves to the scientific research. However, not every researcher may reach their expected goals on the way to explore the secrets of nature. In scientific studies, there would be many components in experiments that may determine its success, such as study objectives, methods, accuracy of the every step of whole procedure and the data analysis. Therefore, it is of vital importance to widen the vision of researchers through exchanging ideas. This CORS aims to provide a platform for basic and clinical scientists to exchange their ideas and information on new technology advancement in both experimental and clinical research. We are happy to let you know that the organizing committee of this CORS has invited many well-known scientists to share us with the latest information and knowledge. A half-day Musculoskeletal Research Workshop has also been organized prior to the CORS on Nov.11th, 2006). We deeply believe that this meeting would be one full of achievement and latest knowledge, from which all the participants could benefit a great deal. It would be also an impetus to the advance of the orthopaedic surgery and to the further international cooperation between Chinese surgeons and their colleagues from the entire world. As one of the hosts, I would like to say a few words about my hometown Beijing. She is ancient and present capital of China with unique culture background and historical heritage which makes her so attractive place to visit: Great Wall, Summer Palace, etc. Full is the most beautiful season of a year in this city. I hope that every attendant would enjoy his/her trip in Beijing. Finally, I would like to extend our warm welcome to you for your participation in the CORS meeting to share your achievement with us.
