1 Sessions Overview: If I had only known... Wynne Tezak, PT, DPT This presentation will give you a basic understanding of pelvic floor dysfunction and basic treatments. This information applies to a wide variety of patients. You will find these techniques quickly decrease symptoms and improve compliance for patients with everything from incontinence to back and hip pain, and even neck and shoulder pain and dysfunction! The information in this course will give you confidence to practice independently after graduation Wynne graduated in 2008 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She has specialized in pelvic health since Wynne treats men and women for a variety of conditions including incontinence, pelvic pain and post-surgical complications. She enjoys working with a variety of patients, particularly those with neck and back pain. Wynne uses a combination of manual techniques along with functional evaluation and exercise.

2 Functional Dry Needling : A Neuroplastic Approach Edo Zylstra, PT, DPT, OCS This theoretical exposure to Functional Dry Needling and its neuroplastic approach will motivate participants to further understand the neurologic impact of this powerful technique, and will assist them in better incorporating it into a solid clinical treatment model. The didactic component of this seminar will instruct the participant in applying these neuroplastic principles to patient care in effective, logical and dynamic ways. The theoretical model for the application of dry needling should be progressive, similar to the advancement of the research and our understanding of pain processing, nociception, functional impact of pain, fear avoidance, and the understanding of the causes of chronic persistent pain. Dr. Edo Zylstra, PT, DPT, OCS, has taught dry needling since 2005 and has advanced how clinicians apply and teach this technique motivated by this evolution of the model, and more importantly the impact on our patient outcomes. We would not have changed and advanced our techniques based solely on the literature if we didn t have a solid improvement in our clinical outcomes as well. Edo Zylstra has been a physical therapist since 2000 working in outpatient orthopedics and specializing in chronic persistent neuro-musculoskeletal pain. He has a passion to advocate for advancing physical therapy scope of practice in the United States through consulting with state and licensing boards and participating in the APTA House of Delegates. He was active in developing the current standards for Dry Needling (aka Trigger Point Dry Needling) training in Colorado and has been on the APTA Dry Needling Task Force and assisted Federation of State Boards Task force to develop the Analysis of Competencies for Dry Needling by Physical Therapists. He has taught over 200 courses in Functional Dry Needling internationally and is currently developing more advanced techniques for therapists experienced in this manual therapy technique. Edo Zylstra received both his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and Master of Science degrees in physical therapy from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, in 2000 and In 2005 Edo opened his clinic, KinetaCare, previously Sport & Spine Physical Therapy Brighton, in

3 Colorado. Prior to opening his clinic he spent over four years working in a chronic pain clinic specializing in manual therapy utilizing Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), and Trigger Point Dry Needling. Edo has since taken numerous advanced courses in dry needling, neuroscience, manual therapy and manipulation, functional movement recovery and corrective exercise. This education continues to contribute to his advancement of the dry needling technique KinetaCore teaches, Functional Dry Needling. Edo has been board certified in Orthopedics since He continues to progress his educational model through partnering with Evidence in Motion, The International Spine and Pain Institute and Neuro Recovery Training Institute. He is determined to see Physical Therapy make an impact on the struggling healthcare system in America with the goal of seeing Physical Therapists become the providers of choice for neuromusculoskeletal disorders and diagnoses. Navigating The Job Market: Resumes, Salary Negotiations, and the Career Path Ben Fung, PT, DPT, MBA What's normal pay for a new grad physical therapist? Does it make a difference if they have experience in other industries? How do I get my resume in front of decision makers, in a way that catches the eye? What do I do when I get a low-balled offer... is there truly no wiggle room? Why do glass ceilings seemingly exist in every corner of healthcare? What must I do to capture my entire career potential?! If these questions seem all too familiar, then you're in good company. The truth is, the job market really isn't that complex once you understand the fundamentals behind the economy of human resources and how you can contribute value to any business unit, of any given size, in any given setting. Having a strong foothold for a successful career launch can mean everything it can mean the difference between doing what you love and getting paid for it, or trapped doing what you hate and feeling very much taken advantage of. Ben Fung is a Physical Therapist turned Independent Media Producer & Startup Entrepreneur. His forte is in optimizing growth for companies and investors in various industries including healthcare, geo-technology, human resources, and marketing. In just three years into his career path, Ben reached the top of his career ladder, breached the dream goal of a 6-figure salary, was recognized by his contemporaries as a pioneer of modern research of kettlebell exercise, and became a national speaker things which he deeply believes can and should

4 be the new normal for our profession. Ben currently serves as COO of UpDoc Media, a marketing agency for health/tech companies; and, as CFO of Recharge, an investor backed CrossFit-Physio hybrid with a mission to redefine the healthcare experience by breaking down the silos of medicine, health, fitness and wellness. Manual Lymphatic Techniques - Orthopedic Concepts: Drainage of Muscle David A. Doubblestein, PT, MS, LLCC, CLT, Cert. MDT This course will present the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatics as it pertains to muscles. The content of this course will lead into a practical demo for a brief introduction on conducting lymphatic treatment on trigger points/tender points. David A. Doubblestein, PT, MS, LLCC, CLT, Cert. MDT is a graduate of Grand Valley State University and obtained his physical therapy licensure in the State of Michigan in His career began at Gerber Memorial Hospital in the rural setting of Newaygo County, Michigan in outpatient orthopedics. In 2005, David ventured into entrepreneurship by starting his own outpatient physical therapy clinic, Living Hope Physical Therapy. He continues to practice at this location. David has studied many orthopedic manual modalities since obtaining his professional degree and licensure including myofascial release, positional release therapy, muscle energy techniques, craniosacral therapy, and various concepts and approaches to joint mobilizations of the spine, pelvis, and extremities. While working at Gerber Memorial Hospital, the need for a lymphedema therapist became apparent to David and he initially pursued his training through the Upledger Institute International studying the Chikly method of complete decongestive therapy. He developed a lymphedema treatment program for the hospital after accomplishing his LLCC certification. David began teaching for the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators and the Chikly Institute in 2005, and taught various Lymph Drainage Therapy courses internationally. During this time, he authored a case study of the effects of Lymph Drainage Therapy on idiopathic Bell s Palsy, which was published in the Advance for Physical Therapists.
