2 ABOUT THE REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA The Registered Massages Therapists Association of BC is the professional body representing the Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) of British Columbia. When RMTs join their professional association they are demonstrating their belief and support in an association that will advance their profession. RMTs receive support, assistance and services that all contribute to a strong professional presence and profile within the health care community. A strong professional association contributes to the profession by educating the public, government, insurers and other health professions as to the important role of massage therapy in health care and wellness for British Columbians. There are currently over 3,000 Registered Massage Therapists practicing in British Columbia. The is very proactive in continuing education to ensure members are constantly up to date on the cutting edge of research, practice, science and techniques. In recent years, the has hosted several extremely successful conferences with attendees and speakers alike lauding the importance and relativity of these meetings. This track record of delivering and going well beyond expectations includes the sold out 3rd International Fascial Research Congress hosted in 2012 and a Pain Management Conference in 2014.

3 Anvil Centre ABOUT THE CONFERENCE Internationally known speakers and practitioners will address the science and practice of manual therapy using safe and effective manipulative and/or movement therapies. Emphasis will be on evidence based techniques with sound science underpinning theoretical constructs. Two days of keynote speakers, panel discussions and break out sessions will be followed by one day of intensive workshops. Participants and speakers will spend the entire day at the conference with breakfast, lunch and breaks all taking place in the venue. This presents many excellent opportunities to showcase your product and/or presence multiple times to all in attendance. WHO ATTENDS We expect 400 participants from a very diverse audience of health care professionals who work mainly in the manual disciplines. These people are vitally interested in increasing their knowledge of various therapies by learning the most recent developments in the field. They are constantly on the lookout for any information and/or knowledge that will advance their profession and ultimately increase the successful treatment(s) of their patients. 4 ABOUT OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS Eyal Lederman, DO, PhD Sandra Hilton, PT, DPT, MS Dr. Eyal Lederman graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1986 and is working as an osteopath in London. He completed his PhD in physiotherapy at King s College, where he researched the neurophysiology of manual therapy. He currently holds a post of Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London (UCL), Orthopedics and Musculoskeletal Health were he is researching the clinical application of stretching in ROM rehabilitation. He also researched and developed Osteopathic Harmonic Technique, Functional Movement Re-Abilitation and Functional Stretching. He is involved in research examining the physiological effects and clinical use of manual therapy. Apart from his work in clinic and research he is also the director of CPDO, a centre providing continuing professional development for manual and physical therapists (UK). Dr. Lederman has been teaching manual therapy and the scientific basis of manual therapy in different schools in the UK and abroad. He has published articles in the area of manual therapy and is the author of the books Harmonic Technique, Fundamentals of Manual Therapy, The Science and Practice of Manual Therapy, Neuromuscular Rehabilitation in Manual and Physical Therapy and Therapeutic Stretching: Towards a Functional Approach Dr. Sandra Hilton graduated from Pacific University (Oregon) in 1988 with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Des Moines University in December She has worked in multiple settings across the US with neurologic and orthopaedic emphasis combining these with a focus in pelvic rehabilitation for pain and dysfunction since She is the Co-owner of Entropy Physiotherapy and Wellness, Chicago, Illinois. Sandy teaches Health Professionals and Community Education classes on returning to function following back and pelvic pain, assisted with Myofascial Release education, and co-teaches Advanced Level Male Pelvic Floor Evaluation and Treatment. Her clinical interest is chronic pain with a particular interest in complex pelvic pain disorders for men and women. She is also pursuing opportunities for collaboration in research into the clinical treatment of pelvic pain conditions. Sandy brings science and common sense together beautifully to help people learn to help themselves.

5 Ravensara S. Travillian, PhD, NA-C, LMP Walt Fritz, PT Dr. Ravensara S. Travillian, PhD, NA-C, LMP, has been a licensed massage practitioner in Washington State since In 2006, she completed her PhD in Biomedical & Health Informatics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She practiced at the Refugee Clinic at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for 7 years, providing massage therapy for refugees living with the aftereffects of having survived war, genocide, and other forms of trauma. In private practice, she has provided massage therapy for veterans with post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury, geriatric clients living with the effects of stroke and Alzheimer s disease, clients with high-risk pregnancies, and parents at high risk of child abuse and neglect due to intergenerational effects of previous abuse and of low socioeconomic status. Ravensara has served the profession as a Board Member for the Massage Therapy Foundation, and as Chair of the Best Practices Committee. She was named as a Scholar at the University of Washington Institute for Translational Health Sciences Her current research focuses on developing a user-friendly and universally-accessible evidence base for massage practitioners, clients, and potential healthcare colleagues to draw upon for reliable and valid reality-based information about massage therapy. Ravensara is currently completing a book on massage research and information literacy, and exploring the feasibility of developing a master s degree program in advanced-practice professional massage therapy for vulnerable and underserved populations. Walt Fritz is a licensed physical therapist with a B.S. in Physical Therapy and B.A. in Community Mental Health from SUNY Buffalo. He has been a physical therapist since 1985 and has taught Myofascial Release continuing education since He is proud to now lead the Foundations in Myofascial Release Seminars, teaching therapists of all types across the country. Walt s interest and passion for myofascial release (MFR) combined with obvious holes in thetheories that explain just how MFR acts on the body have led him into his present day path. His Foundations in Myofascial Release Seminars are a blending of theories, pulling from the strengths of the older beliefs/models, along with newer views on neurological explanatory models of treatment, to bring a fresh and easy to integrate approach into the manual therapy practice. Walt also operates the Pain Relief Center, in Rochester, NY. Here he sees both local clients, as well as clients who travel from across the country with pain issues that have not resolved with other modalities. Additional break out speakers include leaders in the field of manual therapy practice.
