ME - Software Quality Engineering Objective a. The objective of this course is to enlighten the students with current trends and technologies incorporated in software testing and software quality assurance by the Software (IT) Industries. Upon successful completion of this course, the student may get better placement opportunities in software industries. For every ME Software Quality Engineering students will have one IEEE qualification and ITIL Foundation qualification. Eligibility ME - SOFTWARE QUALITY ENGINEERING Two Years Programme. (a) BE/ B.Tech from a recognized university in CSE, IT (b) AMIE/ AMIETE and other recognized programs equivalent BE degree by MHRD/UGC / AICTE for the purpose of engineering services exam by Govt. of India GATE score is desirable. (c) M.Sc - CSC/ IT / MCA from recognized university Also need to attend entrance test for admission which will be conducted at Chennai for the purpose selecting candidate. Top 50 scorers in this admission test will be called for personal discussion and 25 candidates will be offered admission. Incase some one not joining other candidates who are in waiting list will be offered the admission. Duration of the course : Two Year (Semester Based) for Full Time and Three Years for Part Time - 3-

4 Medium of Instruction Mode of Study : English : Class Room Instruction/ Teaching as well as Home work as well as partly online / virtual classes Scheme of Evaluation a. Each theory subject is to be conducted for 24 hours. Each Practical lab is to be conducted for 48 hours. Both theory and practical papers carry 100 marks each. b. Passing minimum for theory and practical papers will be 40 out of 100 marks. Question Pattern a. Theory: the question paper will contain two sections: Part-A and Part-B. b. Part-A (Total Marks: 40) consists of 10 questions each carries 4 marks. There is no choice in questions. c. Part-B (Total Marks: 60) consists of 7 questions each carries 15 marks. Out of 7 questions, 4 must be answered M Tech Non Destructive Testing The field of Non destructive Testing (NDT) is a very broad, interdisciplinary field that plays a critical role in assuring that structural components and systems perform their function in a reliable and cost effective fashion. NDT technicians and engineers define and implement tests that locate and characterize material conditions and flaws that might otherwise cause planes to crash, reactors to fail, trains to derail, pipelines to burst, and a variety of less visible, but equally troubling events. These tests are performed in a manner that does not affect the future usefulness of the object or material. In other words, NDT allows parts and material to be inspected and measured without damaging them. Because it allows inspection without interfering with a product's final use, NDT provides an excellent balance between quality control and cost-effectiveness. Generally speaking, NDT - 4-

Reports show world NDT market has tremendous growth potential in the coming days. The stringent government safety regulations have created a huge demand for NDT inspection services, according to a new report by Research and Markets. This also resulted in an impressive showing during the world economic downturn. The world NDT inspection services market is highly fragmented with significantly high competition. This market is relatively immune from major economic slowdowns and hence presents tremendous growth potential. The market within the new study has been broken down geographically as North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Rest of the World. 6 Analysts noted some interesting regional trends. Asia Pacific is expected to play an important role in the growth and demand for NDT inspection services during the forecast period. In terms of revenue generation, this region is expected to grow further as demand from key end-user industries, such as manufacturing, oil & gas and power generation, continues to increase. North America continues to play an important role in terms of revenues for this market. The presence of established end-users, such as oil & gas and process industries, is pivotal to the demand in this region. It is expected to remain the biggest contributor to revenues in this market. Booming Indian and Brazilian market Traditionally, North America and Europe have been the primary revenue contributors to this market, however, in recent times; growth has been driven by countries in South America and Asia Pacific. China was responsible for over half the revenues generated in 2010 due to the wide-scale manufacturing activity in progress.
