To enable the student to gain 15 credits towards their degree through learning from a structured reflection on work experience. 2. For students to explore research on learning styles, identify their strengths, weaknesses, and key skills, and construct a personal development plan. 3. For students to carry out at least 50 hours of paid or voluntary work, after which they are expected to reflect upon their experience, particularly with reference to their personal development. 4. For students to consider how they would design a psychological study within the context of the workplace. 5. Classic studies are discussed in every introductory textbook Classic studies help give psychology its identity Classic studies help establish the research agendas for the field Many people (not just in psychology) know about these studies Why do some studies become classic? The questions motivating the research The nature of the findings The methods used The impact of the findings The Module This module is taught in Term 2 Friday 1-3 The contact time in this module consists of two components: A LECTURE component one classic study will be discussed each week The aim of the lectures is to present, discuss, and evaluate a classic study in psychology A TUTORIAL/PRACTICAL component this will take place immediately after the lecture for 1 hour The aim of the tutorials/practicals is to: provide more information about the classic studies give you experience in research assist you in preparing for the assessment Classic studies Classic studies Watson & Rayner (1920) Little Albert Bandura et al.
