6 Content Management System: Migration to Drupal Fall Fall 2014: migra0on from custom CMS to Drupal CMS Opportunity to conduct usability tes0ng and revisit exis0ng content on the site v Our perspec0ve: we want to empower our users, so the refresh was about making sure that people who use HealthyPeople.gov are gebng what they need out of it.

9 User Research Approach Gathered findings and recommenda0ons using mul0ple methods: Focus groups and in- depth interviews Persona development Usability tes0ng prior to Drupal migra0on Informa0on architecture (tree tes0ng) Prototype mini- tests during development of new tools and features Usability tes0ng ager Drupal migra0on to test updated features and new content Required close integra0on of user research, content, and development teams

10 User Research Findings: DATA2020 Tool DATA2020 search tool Original in- depth interviews: Users are seeking public health data for specific HP2020 objec0ves Opportunity to redesign tool in Drupal using taxonomies and faceted search module and address user needs Users struggled to use the tool on.net Usability Tes0ng Video: 0:46-1:56 Par0cipants had difficulty narrowing down search results Mul0ple steps involved before users could see data in results Changes planned for Drupal Place filters on same page as results Provide real- 0me filtering and constant feedback Add advanced filtering to facilitate scanning
