3 Committee Goals for the year: 1. Get the final Board approval of: a. The Manual of the Residency Training Program and Accreditation Process in IM in the Philippines b. The Manual of the contents of Terminal Competencies in IM
4 Committee Goals for the year: 2. Orient the trainers of the accredited institution on the a. The Manual of the Residency Training Program and Accreditation Process in IM in the Philippines b. The Manual of the Contents of Terminal Competencies in IM
5 Rationale Make the Manuals available for implementation by all training institution by January, 2014
6 Committee Goals for the year: 3. Harmonize the fellowship training programs of the different subspecialty component and some affiliate societies with the Residency Training Program in Internal Medicine and benchmark the best practices in the training program of the different subspecialties
7 Rationale (Obj. 3) The content of the competencies of the different subspecialties of IM will be the legal document and basis of Philhealth, health insurances and hospitals on categorization of practice of a Generalist, Internist, and Subspecialist. It will delineate and set boundaries on what an Internist will be allowed to practice.
8 Rationale (Obj. 3) It will be the basis for blueprinting of PSBIM It will serve as a guide for training institutions on what diseases and disorders to emphasize as far as training objectives are concerned
9 Accomplishments 1. Board approval of the two manuals obtained 2. Orientation on how to adhere to the guidelines and processes of the PCP training program and accreditation in Internal Medicine conducted through three workshops held: August 31, 2013 September 28, 2013 October 26, 2013
10 August 31, 2013, Exchange Regency Hotel - attended by representatives of 33 training institutions September 28, 2013, Exchange Regency Hotel -attended by representatives of 33 training institutions October 28, 2013, Astoria Hotel - attended by representatives of 36 institutions
11 The training institutions were provided copies of the two Manuals during the orientations 96 PCP Accredited hospitals and 7 new hospitals applying for accreditation received copies
12 Manual of the Contents of the Terminal Competencies distributed to the following societies: 1. Philippine Heart Association 2. Philippine College of Chest Physicians 3. Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Disease 4. Philippine Society of Gastroenterology 5. Philippine Society of Nephrology 6. Philippine Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism
13 Manual of the Contents of the Terminal Competencies distributed to the following societies: 7. Philippine Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion 8. Philippine Neurological Association 9.
