4 BE PART OF CORTE MADERA S HISTORY NOW AND IN THE FUTURE! As you know, Corte Madera has been commemorating our town s 100 th birthday with events throughout this year. The final Centennial celebration is coming up on December 3 rd, when we present Snow Day, with games, holiday lights, music, fun in actual snow and more. What you write will then be sealed in our Centennial Time Capsule until Perhaps you will want to respond to one or more of these three questions: What is life in Corte Madera like now? Describe the things you do and see, so that someone reading your comments in 25 years can visualize what life here was like in What will life be like for someone your current age 25 years from now? Try to envision and describe what they will be doing in their everyday life. What will the town of Corte Madera be like in 2041? Describe what you think the town will look like. 5 Be Coyote Aware Their lives and your safety depend on you Coyotes are common throughout North America, including in urban areas. You may see and hear them more during mating season (Dec-Feb) and when juveniles are dispersing from family groups (Sept-Nov). These facts and safety tips will help increase comfort and decrease conflicts when living or recreating near North America s native Song Dog. Facts Coyotes are members of the dog family; they are curious, adaptable, and learn quickly. Coyotes often mate for life, are devoted parents, and are highly communicative (barks, yips, howls). Coyotes weigh pounds in the West and pounds in the East. They live alone, in pairs, or in small family groups. Coyotes eat large numbers of rodents, as well as fruit, vegetation, insects and carrion. They help keep ecosystems vital, healthy and clean. Safety DON T FEED COYOTES. Their life and your safety depend on coyotes remaining wild and naturally wary of people. Coyotes may be more protective of dens/ territories during pup rearing (April- Aug). Walk dogs on leashes. Pick up your small dog if you see a coyote. If approached, don t run. Wave arms, make noise and walk toward the coyote until he retreats. Be Big, Bad and Loud. Do not attract a coyote; pick up trash. Appreciate coyotes from a distance. Share this information with family and friends. Do not feed coyotes. Help keep them wild and wary! Report coyotes or the feeding of coyotes to the Marin Humane Society, It is illegal to feed wildlife (Marin County Ordinance ) ProjectCoyote.org

The public hearing will be held on November 15, 2016 at 7:30 PM at the Council Chambers of the Town Hall located at 300 Tamalpais Drive, Corte Madera, CA The Town Council will consider potential zoning ordinance amendments regarding accessory dwelling units and junior accessory dwelling units. The Town s General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and Housing Element encourage the creation of affordable housing through a variety of mechanisms including the development of accessory dwelling units and junior accessory dwelling units. In September, the State of California passed three bills regarding accessory dwelling units and junior accessory dwelling units (previously known as second units and junior second units). In response, Staff has drafted amendments to the Town s existing Second Unit Ordinance (Chapter CMMC) that incorporate changes required to conform to State law and facilitate implementation goals of the General Plan. Amendments also include the addition of a new section defining Junior Accessory Dwelling Units and establishing standards for their creation. These proposed amendments reflect direction from the Planning Commission at their October 25, 2016 public meeting. The amendments are within the scope of the Program EIR for the 2009 General Plan and the Planning Department recommends that no further environmental review is required for adoption of the zoning ordinance amendments pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines sections and All persons interested in the foregoing are invited to appear before the Corte Madera Town Council at the time, day and place mentioned above.
