Each month there is an increase in request of specific reports that are directly related to Cancer Awareness Months. Below is a chart for each month with the corresponding site and ribbon color along with a few reports commonly requested. These reports are easily produced from CRStar. The format of this E News will take a Question/Answer approach with additional helpful hints for each report. These helpful hints may be new field index numbers, report selection or drilling down canned reports. By utilizing the reports to their fullest the user will obtain information quickly and easier than using select a population multiple times. 1
Q- How many esophageal cases have we seen in the last 3 years? A-Report: Select a population indicating the site, years to study and class of cases. April is Esophagus Awareness month. If running reports for multiple years. Use field #3783 First Contact date YEAR. This field index allows the user to list multiple years. Each year is entered with a comma and no spaces between the years. Q- What type of treatment was delivered to the patients? A- Click on Canned reports and then RX Combo. Hospital: If left blank the system will reflect the treatment delivered at all hospitals. If 01 is entered, ONLY the treatment rendered at that facility (01) will display. If 02 is entered then only treatments at facility (02) will be displayed. The user can add hospitals outside of the network into the field. Course of Treatment: Users can choose First (F) course therapy only, Subsequent (S) treatment only or a combination of all treatment of both F/S. Most physicians are interested in F course therapy only. 2
Q- Specifically want the numbers for particular treatments receive by modality. A-By using the RX Dist the user can click on a specific modality for reporting. *NOTE: The total number of cases displayed will vary from the total cases in the population. In this example there are a total of 54 cases. Depending on the treatment option and codes entered this number will be lower since it is drilling down to specific modalities. Hospital- Hospital: If left blank the system will reflect the treatment delivered at all hospitals. If 01 is entered, ONLY the treatment rendered at that facility (01) will display. If 02 is entered then only treatments at facility (02) will be displayed. The user can add hospitals outside of the network into the field Treatment Type: The user can choose which modality to drill down on in the report by clicking on the radio button. RX Values: The user can enter the codes found in the drop down options from the treatment screen (examples below). If a physician is interested in specific surgery codes The report will display the total number of cases receiving those specific surgeries only. Or if Radiation code of 25 is desired click on Radiation and enter in 25 in the RX Values. If left blank all treatments will be displayed. Remember the information displayed will be smaller than the total number of cases in the population. Course of Treatment: Users can choose First (F) course therapy only, Subsequent (S) treatment only or a combination of all treatment of both F/S. Most physicians are interested in F course therapy only. 3
Q- Which Counties are the cases being referred from for each year? A- The Cross tab report using the date of first contact-year and County at diagnosis is the most efficient report to use. 4
Q- Are we diagnosing more esophageal cancer in the month of awareness (April) in comparison to other months? Are marketing/screening efforts for each month making an impact on the diagnosis seen? A- Use the cross tab report comparing the Diagnosis Month to the Diagnosis Year 5
Q-Have our marketing, screening or public education efforts made an impact with diagnosis being made within the Cancer Awareness months? A- Select analytic cases for the years applicable and run a cross tab report comparing site to diagnosis month. 6
Q-How many of the esophageal cases have a family history of cancer, tobacco use or alcohol use? A-The adhoc list report allows the user to list all of these data elements (if collected) along with other data elements from the abstract. The adhoc list report gives the user the option to display in either code (C ) or (D ). The user also has the choice to *Break (B) giving a total sum of a data item, *Sort (S) sorting the field index used within the report or *Listing (L) the information. Once in Excel the user can further filter the report as desired. Note: Once the selected population has been ran through a treatment combination report, as shown on page 2, then field index #43 may be used in Adhoc list. 7
