2 What is Detoxification? Removal of toxins and waste from the body Includes exogenous toxins as well as endogenous toxins Is an absolutely necessary function of the body in order to survive Something your body s organs do naturally Why Does Everyone Need Detox Support? Too many exogenous toxins present in our environment Body s detoxification mechanisms overloaded and can t catch up Toxins end up being stored in various organs Stress hampers the body s ability to function properly (decreased Qi available) Name Some of Our Toxins/Stressors 2

4 Signs of Overzealous Detox Severe headaches Dizziness and memory loss Exhaustion Significant Nausea Significant Skin Outbreaks Severe flu symptoms Severe diarrhea or constipation Kidney damage Requirements of Safe Detox 1. Ensure drainage pathways are functioning. Constipation is a contraindication to certain detoxification methods 2. Ensure the person has enough Qi (adrenal energy) to detoxify. 5 1. Drainage Pathways Bowels are the workhorse of the drainage pathways. Liver is more finesse organ converting fat soluble toxins to water soluble for excretion via kidneys Lymph Drainage: ports for drainage must remain open in order for lymph to dump toxins out via kidneys. Lungs detoxify us with each breath Prepare the Colon for Detox 2. Enough Qi Body will not detox if there is not enough adrenal support Severe detoxification reactions can occur if you force the body to detox when it is not ready to 5
