3 Egyptian Society of Chronic Pelvic Pain in Women A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER AND THE CHAIRMAN Dear colleagues, Chronic Pelvic Pain in Women (CPPW) is a common debilitating illness that can reduce the quality of life and general wellbeing. CPPW has often been described as a major women's health issue. Incidence is high as 25 % of the women population. Though one quarter of women suffers of CPPW in any given society, no standard effective medical approach has been adopted for its management. Also no specific training programs have been designed for the medical staff in this medical area. After meticulous studies and practice in last ten years in this field, We present the proposal for our project which is: " The National Health System Program for Chronic Pelvic Pain in Women (CPPW) " in the developing countries." The goal of our project is not only to creating a National Health System Program for CPPW in the developing countries but also to take in consideration the differences that distinguishing each of them. C

4 The Millennium Development Goals and South to South cooperation ideas are the main source of inspiration for our project. We can summarize the Project Objectives as follow: 1-To raise the awareness and consciousness of both governmental and nongovernmental health authorities in the developing countries, toward the problem of chronic pelvic pain in women and its drawbacks. 2 - To carry out Intensive Short Training Course in Cairo, Egypt for medical staff from different specialties aiming at enabling them to detect women of chronic pelvic pain and manage them according to a scientific protocols. The graduated candidates can then satisfactory deal medically (diagnosis and treatment) and also can be able to establish or set up a simple clinics for chronic pelvic pain in women in their developing countries. 3 - Establish or set up a simple clinics for chronic pelvic pain in women in the primary health care level, in secondary health care level and mobile clinics in crowded random population. These simple clinics are considered the nucleus for a National Health System Program. 4 - The newly born National Health System Program will grow up and develop spontaneously by graduated physicians attended our course, to cover most of women in all over the country to achieve the following: A* Help in management of women with chronic pelvic pain, B* Help in evaluation of general and reproductive health of women, because many body systems can cause CPPW ( genital, digestive, skleto-muscular, neurology and urinary tract, systems also psychology ) and the fact that CPPW most commonly is multi-factorial cause, so investigations for CPPW definitely could help in evaluation of general and reproductive women health. 5 C* Help in raising the general women health care standards. D* Help in collecting data needed for more understanding of the unknown pathophysiology of most cases, this is an important issue because about 60% of CPPW with unknown cause or without diagnosed etiology. We believe that the faithful cooperation is of utmost importance in order to achieving our goals for benefit of neglected women in poor developing countries.
