3 Recognizing the Need Understanding a need allows us to recognize the opportunities Current active membership is approximately 9 Past membership has been as high as 50 Club will become unsustainable if membership is not improved Expanded membership needed for larger and more complex projects Project fund raising is limited by club size Profile in the community is enhanced with larger membership Broader skill base to draw from with larger membership

4 Participation at the Club Level The club as a whole needs to align itself with the effort to gain n new members Be more selective in funding Get third party endorsement for our funding and participation efforts Look to create avenues for public awareness Create projects that are visible and invoke membership opportunities Look for sponsorship of activities and/or events that can draw new people to Lions Create incentives internally for current members who introduce prospective members Recognize success

5 Participation at an Individual Level Individual members must buy in to the need for new members and actively participate Every person you meet is a potential Lions member Serve side by side with your friends and associates ReMember old friends and associates that could be members Invite a friend or associate to a meeting Ask if a person would like to address the club on a specific topic (sponsorship, event, project) Make every introduction a chance to mention your service work is through Lions and invite the person to join us for dinner

6 Recruitment Tools Create a tool for use in successful prospecting Current Lions pamphlet Invite a guest to dinner card The proof of the card has been circulated. It invites a guest to a regular meeting and the club buys dinner. Timing is important and lining it with a guest speaker or topic of interest would be ideal. Most important it involves the prospect in a direct way.

7 Short Term Goals Between now and Christmas we have 7 meetings, fall membership drive Target one invitation attending for each meeting Invite each attendee back (with spouse) for our Christmas dinner Have one (1) new member agree to come on board from the Fall membership drive Break down the remaining meetings for the year Winter membership drive, ending at Easter Spring membership drive, ending in June

8 Long Term Goals Stratford Lions Club Between now and the end of June 2011 year there are 21 meeting datesd Continue to develop the club recognition in the public space Continue drive individually as noted on previous slide. Three (3) new members by end of the season in June 2011

9 Action Plan Moving forward to success Stratford Lions Club Printing of dinner invitations Assemble project and event plan for the remaining year (2010) and first half of 2011 Create list of new projects or events Bring groups necessary together and discuss achievability Report invitees to each meeting to membership chair Track invitees Create a invitee form for basic information. Create data base of invitees and track
