1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Strength and Conditioning Coach NAME OF JOBHOLDER: REPORTS TO (TITLE): OFFICE/HO DEPT: DATE: Head of Medical Services Cricket August MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB (one statement explaining the job s overall objective) The LCCC Strength and Conditioning Coach is tasked, alongside the Head of Medical Services, Physiotherapist and Club Doctor, with the responsibility of leading and delivering outstanding strength and conditioning support to both the Professional Cricket Staff and Academy Players of the club, and LCCC s England and England Development Players. The aim of LCCC s Strength and Conditioning Coach is to optimise the physical preparation of LCCC s cricketers, in line with the demands of the game, and the physical benchmarks for professional cricketers, as identified by LCCC and the ECB. To be a key member of the LCCC Science & Medicine Team contributing to the strategy and development of the service at all levels, in association with the Head of Medical Services and Director of Cricket. 2. JOB SPECIFIC TASKS (the major end results the job is expected to achieve) To lead, plan and deliver the provision of annual individual Strength & Conditioning programmes for each member of Lancashire s Professional and Academy Squads, Age Group Programmes, England players and those on the England Development Programme. To plan and lead regular pre-season and in-season testing, in keeping with the physical benchmarks for professional cricketers, as identified by LCCC and the ECB. To report any testing, screening and assessment results on the ECB database within 24 hours, and feed these results directly back to the player, physiotherapist and coaches. These regular results should be used to negotiate and agree challenging physical development goals with each Professional, Academy, England, England Development and Age Group player.

2 To provide warm up and warm down sessions, and implement recovery protocols for players on both match and practice days in keeping with Lancashire s dedication to injury prevention. Maintain a comprehensive database of work conducted with each individual athlete, and fully comply with, and contribute towards the development of LCCC s sports science, and strength and conditioning support structure, monitoring and reporting process. To attend all home 1 st XI, and 2 nd XI games where possible, to positively influence the physical development and professional habits of all LCCC players, and any identified players on trial. To be available for attendance at all Academy training sessions, this will include evenings and weekends. To lead the education of Professional, Academy, EDP and Age Group players with regard to nutrition, recovery and the physical competencies required to compete at the elite level. To ensure a minimum of four hours strength and conditioning contact time with every fully fit or rehabilitating professional player, and at least two hours with each academy player per week. With the Physiotherapist, Head Coach and Academy Director, formally monitor and review the workloads of players every week, using a variety of different monitoring methods. Attend and contribute to regular multidisciplinary management meetings with the Head of Medical Services, Physiotherapist, Club Doctor and Coaching Staff Alongside the Physiotherapist, be available and willing to contribute to the management, conditioning and rehabilitation of any injured player at any time, including supplemental work with the club s England Players, as directed by the ECB. To undertake appropriate continued professional development that keeps you abreast of world s best practice, including progression towards the desirable qualification criteria laid out in the ECB Cricket Audit, and to satisfy yearly performance objectives, as agreed with your line manager. To contribute towards the annual Strength and Conditioning, and Medical Team injury prevention objectives, as agreed and identified by the annual ECB Cricket Audit. To manage the annual Strength and Conditioning budget, and order items required for nutrition, supplementation and training in accordance with the clubs financial procedures. To manage and oversee an annually appointed Strength & Conditioning intern who will assist in delivery of strength and conditioning programmes to Age Group, EDP and Academy players and assist with Pro Player management and assessment when necessary.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED (the expertise needed to perform the job to the required standard) Minimum three years experience in the provision of strength and conditioning services to elite senior and age group athletes, which should include work with high performance teams or squads, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent knowledge and delivery skills in the areas of: weightlifting and resistance training techniques, plyometrics, speed and agility development, and cardiovascular conditioning. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills allowing you to liaise easily with both players and the management team. Computer literacy, including MS office, Databases and performance analysis software Experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of strength and conditioning programmes for elite athletes and ideally cricketers. To have a background knowledge of cricket including the unique physical demands and skills. Qualifications Essential UKSCA accreditation Graduate qualifications in sports science and/or strength and conditioning. Current professional indemnity insurance cover. Full Driving Licence and access to own vehicle. Desirable A postgraduate qualification specialising in Strength & Conditioning and/or Sports Physiology Emergency management and on-field resuscitation qualifications ISAK level 1 Accreditation (International Society of the Advancement of Kinanthropometry) Experience in the preparation and delivery of CPD Workshops and conference presentations Massage qualification OTHER CONSIDERATIONS An understanding of individual responsibility in complying with the Health and safety, and Code of Conduct at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

4 An understanding of and commitment to the Anti-Doping policy according to the England and Wales Cricket Board. The ability to work irregular and unsocial hours and travel extensively both within the UK and abroad where necessary. The position requires that the successful candidate works with age group athletes, therefore they will be required to undergo advanced checks with DBS.
