This meas that coutries will likely set up a focal poit or focus agecy who will be resposible for SDG implemetatio, moitorig ad follow-up: Maybe it will be the agecy who coordiated MDG work? Maybe it will be a ew agecy? Maybe the Natioal Govermet will dedicate specific SDGs to specific agecies, such as the Natioal AIDS Coucil? Coutries will develop their ow processes to prioritize! How will this be fuded? How coutries ca ad will pay for progress towards the goals ad what political pressures they face may have a strog ifluece o what goals get prioritized ad what goals get igored.

20 + Measurig Success: SDGs How will we kow we are reachig our goals? The UN has assembled a expert group who has bee coductig cosultatios ad reflectig o a comprehesive set of what are called idicators, which will serve as specific goals for each target. EXAMPLE: Target 3.1: By 2030, reduce the global materal mortality ratio to less tha 70 per 100,000 live births. Idicators: Materal deaths per 100,000 live births. Proportio of births atteded by skilled health persoel. Uder-five mortality rate (deaths per 1,000 live births). Coutries may adopt their ow specific bech marks or idicators as they prioritize ad implemet these goals. This meas that there will be opportuities to moitor ad evaluate the progress of the SDGs to a exteral body ad to receive iformatio about how successfully the SDGs are beig implemeted at coutry levels.
