School-Visit Programs (Japa) Sice 2007, Nissa has put its maufacturig kow-how to work by carryig out three school-visit programs. The programs target older elemetary school studets, with istructors dispatched from Nissa. Oe of them is the Nissa Waku-Waku Eco School, where studets ca deepe their uderstadig of global evirometal issues. They lear about Nissa s evirometal efforts ad experiece the latest i evirometal techology. This has icluded test rides i the pure electric Nissa LEAF electric vehicle ad fuel-cell vehicles. I fiscal 2012, about 5,000 studets from 32 schools, maily i Kaagawa Prefecture, atteded the program. Sice the lauch of the Nissa Waku-Waku Eco School, a total of some 20,000 childre have participated as of March Nissa LEAF plays a valuable supportig role i oprofit activities. For istace, the Nissa Techical Ceter Europe i the Uited Kigdom, our R&D ceter i Europe, coducts the Aual Uiversity Egieerig Summit, ivitig U.K. uiversity studets majorig i egieerig to the facility. The most recet forum, held i February ad March 2013, welcomed 300 studets from 26 uiversities. They toured the site, met with Nissa egieers ad participated i structured discussios. Studets ad Nissa egieers took part i discussios together. Educatio Support for Childre i Need (Chia, South Africa) I Chia, where the ecoomy cotiues to grow dramatically, may people migrate from rural regios to major cities i search of work. May of them are ecoomically challeged, ad their childre are i eed of social support. Nissa (Chia) Ivestmet Co., Ltd. (NCIC) bega a program i 2010, Nissa Carig for Migrat Childre, to address the challeges of a rapidly migratig populatio. I fiscal 2012, Dogfeg Nissa Passeger Vehicle Compay (DFL-PV) ad Zhegzhou Nissa Automobile Co., Ltd. (ZNA) also joied the program. The mobile team referred 650 studets requirig more advaced eye screeig to specialist cliics. This is part of the Nissa Mobile Child Eye Health Project, which has bee ruig for the past three years. This activity helps childre from disadvataged backgrouds to get access to eye-care, thus icreasig their ability to lear effectively. Academic Efforts Nissa Global Foudatio (Japa) We recogize that creatig a sustaiable society o a global basis is a ecessity. The Nissa Global Foudatio urtures idividuals who uderstad the issues ad challeges facig the plaet ad who ca lead sustaiable developmet efforts. The Foudatio provides fiacial support for scietific research that leads to far-reachig solutios to the may issues humakid faces. The Nissa Global Foudatio also provides support for basic research i various fields for the realizatio of a low-carbo society. Nissa Istitute of Japaese Studies, Oxford (U.K.) Fouded at the Uiversity of Oxford through doatios from the compay, the Nissa Istitute of Japaese Studies is a well-kow ceter for the research of moder Japa i Europe that cotributes to the promotio of mutual uderstadig betwee Japa ad Europe. Humaitaria Support Nissa has provided assistace aroud the world to people who have bee affected by large-scale atural disasters. About 90 employees visited the site four times, helpig to make temporary housig complexes more comfortable for the occupats. Addressig Natural Disasters Relief Activities i Chia s Yua Provice O September 7, 2012, a 5.5 magitude earthquake hit Yua Provice i Chia. Houses were severely damaged, trasportatio was disrupted ad there were cotiuous ladslides. While immediate relief is always a ecessity i such a crisis, there was a eve greater sese of urgecy as the earthquake hit right before the start of witer. Facig the major disaster, Nissa (Chia) Ivestmet Co., Ltd. (NCIC) ad Zhegzhou Nissa Automobile Co., Ltd. (ZNA) immediately iitiated relief efforts. They doated witer clothig ad other eeded items collected through their employees. At the same time, ZNA set two vehicles to the disaster area to support voluteers i trasportig relief materials. I additio, the compaies provided fiacial support for the voluteers o the frot lies. Relief Activities i Quake-impacted Norther Italy Nissa made a cotributio of 100,000 to the Italia Red Cross to give aid to Norther Italy, which suffered from two earthquakes i May The compay also doated a 4 4 Nissa Navara Pickup to the Regioal Protectio Agecy i Emilia Romaga to assist with recovery operatios.
