3 2 nd Sino-Euro-US colorectal multidisciplinary (MDT) workshop Overview Significant advances have been made in the management of metastatic colorectal cancer over the past two decades. Increased specialization within disciplines and the expanding treatment options have increased the complexity of cancer care. An integrated approach between specialists is now considered a standard of cancer for metastatic colorectal cancer. This workshop aims at promoting a decision making process in a collaborative setting and an inter-disciplinary approach in the management of metastatic colorectal cancer. This event is part of the 12 th Shanghai International Colorectal Cancer Symposium. Learning objectives By attending this live educational workshop, participants will be able to: Recognize the importance of the multidisciplinary approach in cancer care Summarize latest management options for metastatic colorectal cancer Analyze the impact of imaging technologies on clinical decision making Target audience The workshop is designed for surgeons, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists with an interest in colorectal cancer. 12 Biographies Joong Bae Ahn Department of Radiology Yonsei Cancer Center Yonsei University College of Medicine Seoul, Korea Joong Bae Ahn is a Professor at the Yonsei Cancer Center in the Division of Medical Oncology. He is specialized in Internal Medicine and Oncology and has conducted several researches in the field of colorectal cancer management. He graduated in 1990 at the Yonsei University College of Medicine where he also continued his internship and residency. Since 2011 he is a member of the European Society of Medical Oncology and has contributed to the publication of more than 50 scientific papers. Kefeng Ding Department of Surgical Oncology Zhejiang University School of Medicine Hangzhou, China Kefeng Ding is a Professor of Surgical oncology and the Assistant President in the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Zhejiang University School of Medicine in Hangzhou. He is also Vice secretary-general and Standing member of Chinese Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons as well as the Secretary of the Committee of Colorectal Cancer (CACA). 10

13 Stephen W. Fenwick Aintree University Hospitals Foundation Trust Liverpool, UK Stephen Fenwick is a Consultant Hepatobiliary Surgeon, at the Liverpool Hepatobiliary Centre, UK, appointed in He is also Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Liverpool. Working alongside Professor Graeme Poston, he is the Clinical Lead of the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, and the Director of Cancer Services in the Hospital. He qualified in medicine from Nottingham University Medical School in 1995, subsequently training in hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgery. The Liverpool Hepatobiliary Centre is one of the largest resectional hepatobiliary practices in the UK, receiving over 1500 referrals per year, and operating on over 200. Dr Fenwick s key clinical interests include the management of Advanced Colorectal Cancer, Neuroendocrine Tumours, and Ocular Melanoma Liver Metastases. To date, he has personally performed over 500 major liver and biliary resections, mainly for metastatic colorectal cancer. Dr Fenwick has a number of research interests including mechanisms of liver regeneration, the role of targeted chemoembolization in colorectal cancer liver metastases, ocular melanoma liver metastasis, and the role of exercise intervention prior to major liver surgery. He is a supervisor for a number of postgraduate students working towards their doctorates. He is a collaborator on a number of national and international oncology trials. Dr Fenwick is the pastsecretary of the Great Britain and Ireland Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (GBIHPBA), and current executive council member of the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons (AUGIS). Woong Sub Koom Department of Radiation Oncology Yonsei Cancer Center Yonsei University College of Medicine Seoul, Korea Woong Sub Koom works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Radiation Oncology of the Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul. He graduated in 2004 at the Yonsei University where he also obtained his PHD. He won a multitude of academic and research Awards from The Korean Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (KOSTRO) and contributed to the writing and publication of more than 50 scientific papers. Among others, Professor Koom s main fields of interests are Gastric Oncology, Colorectal Oncology and Urological Oncology. He is also a member of the Korean Society for Radiation Oncology. 11

14 Biographies Kang-Young Lee Department of Surgery Yonsei Cancer Center Yonsei University College of Medicine Seoul, Korea Kang-Young Lee is currently a Professor in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. In 2002 he completed his PhD at the Korea University and continued with a postdoctoral fellowship at the Anderson Cancer Center. After completing his Internship and Residency at Severance Hospital at Yonsei University, he specialized and remained within the Department of Colorectal Cancer Surgery first as an Instructor, then as Assistant and Professor. Joon Seok Lim Department of Radiology Yonsei Cancer Center Yonsei University College of Medicine Seoul, Korea Joon Seok Lim is a Professor of Radiology at the Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul. He got his Medicine Degree and his PHD at the same University and performed his Residency and Fellowship at Severance Hospital in Seoul. His area of interest is Gastrointestinal imaging and published more than 50 scientific papers as a first or corresponding author. 12

15 Tianshu Liu Department of Medical Oncology Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University Shanghai, China Liu Tianshu is currently Professor and Director of the Department of Medical Oncology, Shanghai Zhong Shan Hospital. She graduated in 1993 in Medicine, at the Former Shanghai Medical University and specialized in Gastroenterology, Clinical Epidemiology (MSc.) at the School of Fudan University (Former Shanghai Medical University). She obtained her PhD in internal medicine in 2007 from the Medical School of Fudan University. In 2001 she obtained a fellowship and was trained at in the GI Department, Julet Bordet Institute, Belgium, chemotherapy of GI cancer, financially supported by WHO (World Health Organization). She continued her training at the Zhong Shan Hospital Fudan University where she is now Professor, and Director of the Department of Medical Oncology Graeme Poston Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery North Western Hepatobiliary Centre Aintree University Hospitals Foundation Trust Liverpool, UK Graeme Poston is a consultant hepato-biliary surgeon at University Hospital Aintree, Liverpool, UK, and Professor of Surgery in the School of Translational Studies of the University of Liverpool. He enjoys an international reputation in hepatobiliary surgery. To date, he has personally performed over 900 major hepatobiliary resections. His unit at UHA is one of the largest tertiary resectional hepato-biliary practices in the UK, having performed over 2,000 liver resections over the last 25 years. He gained his undergraduate medical training at St Georges Hospital Medical School, London, graduating in 1979, and postgraduate training at The Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary s Hospital, London, and University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. He is the Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board of the European Journal of Surgical Oncology and a Past-President of the European Society of Surgical Oncology, the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and the British Association of Surgical Oncology. He is Chair of NHS HPB Specialised Commissioning and Chair of NHS England Specialised Commissioning Internal Medicine Programme of Care, Chair of the NICE Colorectal Cancer Guideline Development Group and Quality Standards Committee, and past- Chair of the Cancer Services Committee of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is the principal investigator of a number of ongoing national and international clinical trials in hepato-biliary surgery, and co-author of numerous national and international guidelines for the management of Hepatobiliary cancers, nine textbooks of surgery, and over 220 papers. Honours and distinctions include the Ernest Miles Medal of the Royal Marsden Surgical Society, Olaf ac Acrel Medal of the Swedish Surgical Association, Stanford Cade Medal of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Kilroe Medal of the Christie Hospital, Manchester, N K Misra Medal of the Indian Association of Surgical Oncology, Honorary Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India and the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka, Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and numerous international visiting Professorships. In what little spare time he has, he enjoys trekking in high places (climbed Kilimanjaro, trekked to Everest and Annapurna Base Camps, climbing Kala Pattar en route, and crossed the Lakya La). 13

16 Biographies Xinyu Qin Department of General Surgery Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University Shanghai, China Xinyu Qin is Professor of Surgery, Assistant Dean of Fudan University Medical Center (former Shanghai Medical University, SMU). Dr. Qin is also Vice President of Zhong Shan Hospital (ZSH) and Chairman of Department of General Surgery, ZSH. Dr. Qin graduated from Department of Medicine, Shanghai Second Medical College in In 1981, he obtained his Master Degree at the School of Graduate Studies, SMU. In 1984, he went to The Royal London Hospital, University of London, United Kingdom and acquired a PhD degree there in Dr. Qin is member or committee member of following professional and scientifical organizations: European Society of Digestive Surgery, Experimental Surgery Society of Chinese Surgical Association, Shanghai Surgical Society and Artificial Organs Society of Chinese Biomedical Engineering Association. Dr. Qin is a member of High Professional Titles Promotion Committee in Medical Field and Experts Committee of SDA. Prof Qin is member of the editorial board of following professional journals: Chinese Journal of Digestion, Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Chinese Journal of Practical Surgery, Digestive Surgery, Clinical Medical Journal of China, Journal of Surgery Concepts and Practice. Dr. Qin published about 70 papers in medical journals. Dr. Xinyu Qin was awarded Third Prize of Science and Technology Progress of Shanghai Municipal Government in 1996 and Third Prize of Science and Technology Progress of National Education Committee in 1996 as well as Third Prize of Science and Technology Progress of Shanghai Health Bureau in Dr. Qin was awarded as an Excellent Young Medical Doctor of Shanghai in National Star of Medical Science and Technology in 1993 and Model Teacher Award of Bao Gang in He was awarded as one of Hundreds Medical Scientists of Shanghai in Dr. Qin's clinical interest is the digestive surgery and his research interest is pancreatic islets transplantation, postoperative gastrointestinal motility disorders and biomolecular study of gastric cancer. His researches are supported by The Health Ministry of China and Science and Technology Committee of Shanghai Municipal Government as well as The Health Bureau of Shanghai Municipal Government. Li Ren Department of General Surgery Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University Shanghai, China Li Ren currently works as a surgeon in the department of General Surgery of the Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. His main fields of interest concern Oncology, Gastroenterology and Bariatric surgery. He has a wide expertise in colorectal cancer surgery and Abdominal Surgery and has contributed to the writing of several scientific papers on these topics. 14

17 Sabine Tejpar Department of Gastro Enterology Digestive Oncology Unit UZ Leuven Leuven, Belgium Sabine Tejpar is Associate Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology, Digestive Oncology Unit and Centre for Human Genetics, UZ Leuven, Belgium. She trained in medicine and gastroenterology at the Catholic University Leuven in Belgium, and holds a PhD in molecular oncology from the Centre for Human Genetics. She is currently Senior Clinical Investigator of the Fund for Scientific Research- Flanders. Her research interests include identification of molecular subgroups in colorectal cancer, MAPK and want signalling in colorectal cancer, prognostic markers in the adjuvant setting and predictive markers for EGFR inhibition. Dr Tejpar has published over 30 recent articles focussing on prognostic and predictive biomarkers in CRC, and treatment of CRC with cetuximab (including effects of KRAS, BRAF, NRAS and PIK3CA mutations and EGFR gene copy number on efficacy). In addition, she is author of over 40 published congress abstracts, which have included results from the PETACC 3-EORTC SAKK 60/00 study evaluating stage-specific prognostic markers in colorectal cancer. Jianwei Wang Department of Liver Surgery Zhejiang University School of Medicine Hangzhou, China Jianwei Wang currently works at Zhejiang University School of Medicine. He is a Surgeon specialized in liver and colorectal cancer surgery. 15

18 Biographies Liuhong Wang Department of Radiology Zhejiang University School of Medicine Hangzhou, China Liuhong Wang is an Associate Chief Physician at the Radiology Department of the Zhejiang University School of Medicine in Hangzhou. His main field of research concerns the Imaging Diagnosis of Digestive System Diseases. Professor Wang is a member of the China MDT Committee and in 2014 has been awarded with the First Prize in the National Competition of MDT of Colorectal Carcinoma. Hulya Weishmann Aintree University Hospitals Foundation Trust Liverpool, UK Hulya Wieshmann works as a full time Consultant Radiologist in Liverpool. Her sub-speciality interest is in imaging of oncology patients with a particular focus on functional imaging. She contributes to multidisciplinary team meetings in Hepatobiliary, Head and Neck and Neuroendocrine malignancies. She co-authored several papers on the added value of FDG PETCT and functional imaging in oncology patients. 16

19 Ying Yuan Department of Medical Oncology Zhejiang University School of Medicine Hangzhou, China Yuan Ying is Professor of Oncology and Chief Physician at Zhejiang University School of Medicine in Hangzhou. She published many articles on the Etiology of Genetic in Colorectal Cancer and her research interests range from the Personalized and comprehensive treatment of gastrointestinal carcinoma to the Genetic characteristics of hereditary colorectal cancer. She is also a member of the Member of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) and of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association. Jianmin Xu Department of General Surgery Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University Shanghai, China Jianmin Xu has worked in Zhongshan hospital as a Chief Physician in General Surgery after graduated since In 2001 and 2004, he went to Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA and Ambroise Paré Hospital (Paris Medical School), France, for further study. Over the last 23 years, he has focused his scientific interests on gastrointestinal cancer especially in basic research and clinical treatment of colorectal cancer and liver metastasis. He has established a standardized treatment of early diagnosis and therapy, developed minimally invasive surgery via Da Vinci robotic, discovered some new molecular targets and is exploring their molecular mechanism, trained tens of postgraduate students, edited 4 books, published 23 SCI journal papers as first or corresponding author (J Clin Oncol., Ann Surg, Ann of Surg Oncol and so on), edited/reviewed for 10 academic journals, directed in several national projects, served as Vice Chairman of Therapy Committee of Colorectal Cancer and Metastasis, China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care and member of many other academic committees, received many academic honors including outstanding academic leaders & leading talents award(2012), the first prize of the award for scientific and technological progress by the Ministry of Education (2011). Given his outstanding achievements he had been repeatedly invited to international conferences and made important speeches. 17

20 Biographies Qinghai Ye Department of Liver Surgery Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University Shanghai, China Qinghai Ye currently works as a surgeon at the Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. His main fields of interest are Oncology, Hepatology and Gastroenterology and his principal skills concern Hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cancer metastasis. He Contributed to the writing of several scientific papers both in Chinese and English. Suzhan Zhang Department of Surgical Oncology Zhejiang University School of Medicine Hangzhou, China Suzhan Zhang is Professor and Chair of the Surgical Oncology Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Zhejiang University School of Medicine. He is also the Chairman of the Chinese Colorectal Cancer Society and Committee Member of the Oncology Society of Chinese Medical Association and of the Chinese Anti-cancer Association. He is furthermore part of several Editorial Boards of Oncology Journals and published over 50 articles in both Chinese and English. His research interests involve breast and colorectal cancer. 18

21 Bo Zhou Department of Intervention Radiology Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University Shanghai, China Bo Zhou is a Member of Chinese Anti-Cancer Society of Colorectal Cancer Specialized Committee (Group of the liver metastasis) and also Member of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO). He currently works at the Department of Interventional radiology at Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University. In 2015 he was awarded with the National Science and Technology Progress Award. He published more than 10 papers both in domestic and international scientific journals. Andrew X. Zhu Department of Medicine Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center Boston, MA, USA Andrew X. Zhu is Director of Liver Cancer Research at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. The major focus of his research is to develop more effective therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma through phase I, II and III clinical trials. The second area of his research interests is directed at the development of novel circulating and imaging biomarkers for targeted therapeutics that have prognostic and/or predictive significance. The third area of his research is to define and characterize known or novel genetic mutations in HCC and cholangiocarcinoma and assess their potential correlation with clinical outcomes and as therapeutic targets. As a widely published author, Dr. Zhu has served as a principle investigator in many clinical trials in HCC, cholangiocarcinoma and other gastrointestinal cancers. He is the invited reviewer for many medical journals and has lectured extensively on HCC and other gastrointestinal cancers. An internationally recognized leader in HCC and cholangiocarcinoma, he has led early efforts of developing several molecularly targeted agents in liver cancers and studying the predictive and surrogate circulating and imaging biomarkers. He is a founding board member of the International Liver Cancer Association, Fellow of American College of Physicians, and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Association for Cancer Research. Dr. Zhu serves on the Hepatobiliary Cancer committee of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the Grants Selection Committee of ASCO, and the Hepatobiliary Cancer Task Force of The NCI Gastrointestinal Cancer Steering Committee (GISC). 19
