Additionally, the alcohol functions as a lubrication enhancer. Jarcol Alcohols as Defoamers of Water Miscible Metal Coolants Jarcol I-18T Octyldecanol , When used between 3-8% it will prevent the formation of stable foam during the use of emulsions. It is available in several molecular weight grades, characterized by K-value, and can be used in a variety of applications. The strength of adhesion increases with the molecular weight. When dry, it is a light flaky powder which readily absorbs up to 40% of its weight in atmospheric water. In solution, it has excellent wetting properties and readily forms films. This makes it good as a coating or an additive to coatings. Jarpol PVPs can act as dye-receptive resins, film formers, adhesives, complexing agents, binders and stabilizers, and protective colloid and suspending agents. They increase the wetting and lubricating effect in vanishing creams, sun proof creams, and depilation agents and provide excellent dispersivity. They are soluble in most organic solvents and are compatible with many modifiers and plasticizers.
