1 2018 Sorority & Fraternity Life Individual Awards Application The Annual Sorority & Fraternity Life Awards process is designed to highlight individual and chapter achievements that promote the shared values of Scholarship, Brotherhood/Sisterhood, Leadership and Service within the sorority and fraternity community at Emory University. ELIGIBILITY & GUIDELINES Eligibility The 2018 Sorority & Fraternity Life Awards will recognize the accomplishments of chapters and individuals between the dates of January 1-December 31, All materials and applications must reflect this time period Current chapters rosters must be on file with the College and each chapter must be recognized and a registered student organization by the Office of Student Leadership and Service Chapters that are not currently in good standing with the Office of Student Conduct- have been put on conduct probation, disciplinary probation or removed from campus by a University recognized hearing body, or by any internal process of their fraternity/sorority for any incident occurring during the award period, January 1-December , are not eligible for chapter awards. However, individual chapter members are eligible for individual awards Awards packets (chapter excellence and individual awards) must be submitted through ORGSYNC by MONDAY, MARCH 19TH, 2018 AT 11:59PM. Disqualification Guidelines Applications turned in after the deadline will not be accepted Applications not adhering to ALL eligibility and submission guidelines Applications with false or misleading information (this action may also result in conduct charges) Other Information Judges for the Greek Awards will be Emory University faculty and staff chosen by the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life Sorority and Fraternity Life staff members are NOT eligible to write letters of recommendation for any awards Judges will not score packets for their own Greek affiliation Each packet will be reviewed and scored by at least three judges. Their score will be averaged to achieve the office chapter score AWARDS CATEGORIES Individual Awards Awards in this category will be given to individuals who best exemplify the ideals and values of sorority and fraternity life. This category consists of the following individual awards: Highest Individual GPA (1 overall) New Member of the Year (one sorority and one fraternity) 1 IFC/ 1 EPC Neophyte of year (2 overall) 1 MGC/ 1 NPHC Woman/Man of the Year (one fraternity and sorority) Chapter President of the Year (one fraternity and sorority) Paul M. One sorority woman and one fraternity man will be chosen for this award. How have your contributions this year impacted your chapter? [Required] How has your involvement in the Emory sorority and fraternity community allowed you to further develop your personal goals and ambitions? 4 Letter of recommendation from a faculty member or administrator [Required] Chapter President of the Year The award will be awarded to the president who best demonstrates the ideals of the sorority and fraternity community through leadership, scholarship, campus involvement, and vision. All applicants for this awards should have served as a chapter president during the Spring 2017 and/or Fall 2017 semesters. If your organization transitioned at the end of the Spring 2017, please choose one president to nominate. One sorority president and one fraternity president will receive this award.
