1 Christopher Newport University s Panhellenic Council Agenda Date: September 8, 2016 ROLL CALL & Creed Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Phi Mu, Zeta Tau Alpha OFFICER REPORTS: VP of Public Relations Really need the events for every chapter. Any event that could possibly conflict with another organization needs to be sent to Erin, ASAP. o Re-sharing calendar with the delegates Panhellenic Promo video- talk to chapters about what they would like to see. o May be bringing in an outside source to make the video so we want it to be about everything that the Panhellenic wants o RCs in promo video- to be discussed o Video geared to people who don t think that they will go greek. More authentic about who we are as women, not just sorority letters. Photos to be tagged in should have members of different organizations to be reposted Chapter profiles are not specifically about CNU but about the organization as a whole o Delegates homework- send 3-4 sentences about what makes the organization special on CNU s campus VP of Programming VP of Development & New Member Education VP of Recruitment &Member Education VP of Operations I will be sending out Fall 2016 Invoices to your VPs of Finance today during my office hours! o They will be due September 15 th. o Please let me know ASAP if your VP of Finance has changed since last semester We will be trying to get word out about more professional development and other opportunities in the community Teach for America sent Frank an about professional development and students who are interested in careers with impact. o They re hosting many events from resume/linkedin workshops to post-graduate service panels The first one was last night and it was a resume building workshop, so we will be sending out more information about these events as they come along! Center for Career Planning o Two-Day Career Fair on September 27 & 28 th o They want to see an increased presence of Greek life at events like these o If any questions, you can make an appointment with a career counselor, come to any of the workshops or attend walk-in hours in Einsteins MWF 11:30-1 VP of Judicial Affairs

2 There is a Panhellenic Exec Interest meeting at 6:45 in the Harrison room in the DSU on September 12th! o This Monday o Encourage members to come if they re even remotely interested! Don't forget to keep encouraging your chapter members to nominate sisters or friends for Panhellenic Woman of the Month! o Voting on Panhellenic Woman of the Month in New Business President Volunteer Opportunity: The Expo is looking for volunteers to help with the Kidz Zone on September 10 from 10:30-3:30pm. Shifts last 1.5 hours each. o To volunteer, contact Beth Smallridge at bethsmallridge@gmail.com or (757) Order of Omega Applications: Junior/Senior, GPA. o Deadline is September 16 at 11:45pm for application and scheduled interview. Registration found on the Compass. Continuing Panhellenic Impact discussion in Old Business. Chapter Reports: Alpha Delta Pi LemonADPi will be held on Sept. 20th in the Trible Plaza from 11-1:30. Proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. o Lemonade stand! Alpha Phi 9/16 - Annual Red Dress Gala at 8pm in the M&T Lobby. We will be tabling 9/12-9/16 from 11am-1pm in the DSU, Student tickets are $20. 9/24 - Alpha Phield Day 10-1 on the JR Courts: Thank you to everyone who signed up! All of our team slots are closed! o Please send complete team roster to raquel.greeley.13@cnu.edu, she will be sending out waivers that each participant must sign in order to play. Alpha Sigma Alpha We have officially named our event, Prove it! o This is based on the Newlywed game, but is geared toward big/littles, roommates, best friends, and even couples. o All proceeds will be going to the NATASHA house o We are partnering with KDR (no one in ASA or KDR can be on a team) o The event is Tuesday, September 20th at 7:30 PM in Gaines

3 o There is a $20 entry fee and the winning team will win a "special night out" prize! o If you are interested in making a team samantha.salmons.14@cnu.edu with two people's names on the team, the organization they will be representing, and your team name! o We will be tabling the Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday leading up to the event (15th, 16th, 19th, and 20th) Preselling $3 at tabling Tickets will be $5 at the door Raffle tickets $1 o Potential shoe drive Delta Gamma Anchor Slam is on September 14th! Tickets are being sold for $3 during tabling and at the doors! None o Chapter Points ADPi A bigger version of my sister my responsibility with all women on campus o Respect and cooperation with one another o Help Panhellenic & all women Working towards raising GPA o Work something out with tutoring center Group sessions with panhellenic women Help with higher level courses Going to different high schools and helping girls apply to colleges o Give that helping hand in the community Working to clean up after sporting games o Panhellenic shirts o Look good as PR o Community see Panhellenic in a good light Community Garden o Help in that Alpha Phi Not overly enthusiastic about expanding this o Because Panhellenic already does so much o Might start to become too much if we add more things Do work with more organizations who aren t greek Alpha Sigma Alpha Week of service o Free time you can sign up for a slot and go out to different service events and go to different places to serve Delta Gamma Day of service o Different places in the area that people could sign up in teams Talking about and bringing awareness about mental health o Partner with NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness o BIGGEST ONE IN THEIR CHAPTER Habitat for Humanity group o Panhellenic Community for a couple of days Campaign for confidence in the high schools Partnering with NPHC more o Angel tree- each chapter take 2-3 Working more with service organizations o They do a lot of great things but don t get the credit for it

6 Gamma Phi Beta Positive body image campaign o High schools o One Student About sexual assault, sex, sexual orientation Becky & Kelly Positive Mural on CNU Crossing? o Ask Charge money to individuals for tailgates Marcia Price Speaker- Women empowerment speaker o CNU & Newport News community o She works closely with AKA Food Fighters o Collecting food from regattas & commons and giving it to the local community Phi Mu Where s the Line o More help with them American Red Cross o Greek wide blood drive Zeta Tau Alpha Idea of getting all of Panhellenic together and getting tshirts and doing a community service walk together Presents for kids around Christmas time Project Lineus o Making blankets for critically ill children o Will be carried over throughout the years Continue the discussions with your chapters for the next two weeks!
