2 Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education The Charity is a registered charity and limited company. The School and College, and Progress House are part of the Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education charity but managed as separate 'operating divisions'. They share a range of services run centrally by the charity such as Fundraising, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Facilities Management and Marketing. The Deaf Academy is a non-maintained residential special school for Deaf children and young people between the ages of 4 19 and a specialist post -16 college for Deaf young people aged Progress House is a registered Children s Home specialising in caring for children and young people aged between 5 and 17 years who are Deaf or hearing impaired. Governance responsibilities of the Governing Body of the Deaf Academy and the Progress House Management Committee are independent of each other and both report directly to the Board of Trustees. The Designated Safeguarding Lead covers all aspects of the charity s work. The Executive Senior Leadership Team comprises the Co-Principal Education, the Co-Principal Safeguarding and Care, the Director of Development and the Director of Finance and Resources. The Co-Principals are responsible for the running of the Deaf Academy School, College and Care and report to the Governing Body Chair. The Director of Development and Director of Finance and Resources are responsible for the running of the Charity and deliver a range of centrally-run services such as Fundraising and Income Generation, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Marketing and capital programme management. The Director of Development and Director of Finance and Resources report to the Chair of Trustees. The four senior leaders work together as the Executive Senior Leadership Team to coordinate the activities of the Charity and Academy, problem solve and make sure there are no gaps in service delivery and assurance that may impact negatively on the Academy and /or the Charity and its service users exeterdeafacademy.ac.uk charity no

The principal ways this is achieved is through running The Deaf Academy, a day and residential school and college for students from throughout the UK and Progress House, a Children s Home for Deaf young people who use British Sign Language. The Charity ensures that The Deaf Academy and Progress House have the resources to change the lives of Deaf people and also explores and develops new services which can enable Deaf people to lead independent lives. The Charity s main development project is the building of a world-class new Deaf Academy which is due to open in the 2019/2020 academic year exeterdeafacademy.ac.uk charity no
