11 PSAT Assessment PSAT is an optional assessment for public high school sophomores, but paid for by the state when taken. 17 Proposed Changes to the Manual Some of the proposed changes to the Idaho Special Education Manual include: Glossary: Clarify the term audiologist for consistency with professional responsibilities. Replace deafness and hearing impairment with deaf or hard of hearing. Remove modification to be consistent with use of terms accommodation and adaptation. Chapter 4: Evaluation and Eligibility: Replace deafness and hearing impairment with deaf or hard of hearing. Provide clarification of the Language Impairment category if a student does not qualify under the criteria for Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Chapter 9: Private School Students: Remove terminology or dual enrollment to align with Idaho Code and other areas of the manual. Chapter 10: Improving Results: Change Computer Based Route to Teacher Certification to Non Traditional Route to Certification to align with teacher certification standards. Remove reference to alternative route preparation program for para educators that is no longer available. 17

19 Consent to Bill School-Based Medicaid Update to One Time Consent Please ensure your district uses the new Consent to Bill School Based Medicaid form for the School Year Available now on the SDE Special Education Forms page under the General Forms tab. 19

20 IEP Survey There will be a survey sent out to Directors regarding IEP forms. 20

21 Funding and Fiscal Accountability Update The State of Idaho received the FFY Grant Award Notices in early July LEAs IDEA Part B allocation amounts have not changed LEAs 619/preschool allocation amounts have changed due to reallocation of funds to charter schools. The new amounts will be posted on the SDE website and updated in the IDEA Part B & Preschool Application The application is currently open. The due date is October 13 th, 2017 Business Managers Webinar was held on Aug 3, The recording is a great resource and available on the ITC website. IDEA Part B & Preschool Application instruction manual, including FY updates, has been posted in our website. LEAs grant applications will be reviewed as submitted. Please don t wait until the last minute to get started! 21

22 Funding and Fiscal Accountability Update Two breakout sessions on Special Education Funding and LEA Maintenance of Effort requirements. Watch out for the agenda! Funding and Fiscal Accountability will set up a work station to provide hands on training for the application. An will be sent with a sign up sheet. Please sign up to block time for an individualized session. 22

25 For brand new teachers, yearround training with monthly web meetings with ongoing online support. First session is August 31. For new teachers, combine this with Getting Started. This training is great for new teachers and also for those want a refresher. Boise was last week. There are 6 more locations of this 2 day behavior workshop on evidence based practices with an emphasis on expressive communication. An advanced training to help you learn how to train others. Tackle the complicated SLD process together at this training. These two are in spring 2018, registration opens soon. Credit course starts in Oct. with F2F training in the spring.
