The coffee bar is so cool! Never utilize wellness facility, willing to pay nothing Never utilizes a wellness facility, willing to pay nothing. Will to pay nothing. Wants to drink beer. 1. None of the above 7. Did not fill it out at all. pay nothing We already have coffee shops and the Sandstorm building. We shouldn't compete with our own businesses! Not willing to pay. A handicapped facility would be nice. I suffer from chronic pain. I ve always hoped for an indoor pool for water exercise and therapy. Lindsborg really needs a recreation facility Dry sauna I would appreciate a salt water pool rather than an all chlorinated pool if a pool is an option. I realize that there needs to be some chlorine but the full chlorinated pools are really hard on those with respiratory issues. Thank you. It would be amazing to have a facility like this so we didn t havw to travel to Salina! Highest priorities would include weights/exercise machines, walking/jogging track and general space. If money is available, I would love to see 3 or 4 basketball/volleyball courts. In my wildest dreams...indoor tennis courts. I would actually put that as a top priority. Lindsborg has a long legacy regarding tennis and this would carry us forward. Good luck and thank you for your efforts! One area to consider is senior activities and space. Is there a better way to serve this population in our community? Think it is wonderful u r looking at this need
look at Forest City, IA - similar population as Lindsborg (we think the population lists the 900+ students at the local college). John K. & Louise Hanson (Winnebago founder) gave money for a local YMCA - but expected the community to come up with the rest - to have investment and ownership, therefore creating a pride in something that was "theirs" and not justhanded to them. Pool, hot tub sauna locker rooms with showers multipurpose room for day care, classes and rentals small tv lounge raquetball courts, 2 gyms, walking track, weight room probably the size you are looking at Built in conjuntion to a new field house for the college. One building, secured access in hallway between. During the day, the college could offer raquetball classes, and swimming into phy ed schedules. The Jr. High and high school also utilized the pool during low peak times. Everyone won! build the dang wellness center We need something, even if we start small then get bigger later. Please, please, please go look at other places near us. Hoisington, Pratt, Marion and Buhler all have newer facilities that have fabulous ideas! The new rec center in Buhler is awesome! Small but awesome. It s a start. Personally, I think an indoor swimming pool is VERY ambitious for this size of town. Due to the initial start-up cost, maintenance, and upkeep of it, I don't think it is very wise or fiscally responsible. However, a compromise would be a good size Hot Tub and Sauna area. After a good weight or cardio workout, a short soak in a Hot Tub or sit in a Sauna is what the muscles are looking for. Also, it would be very nice if there was a way to include an area for an in-door batting cage for baseball. I hear the baseball coach for the high school has a pitching machine that he needs a place for. It will be, however, a little difficult to regulate b/c you don't want everyone and anyone just using it when they don't know what they are doing, but I think that is something that could be ironed out if the facility could house it. Would be so excited for Lindsborg to have something like this. The quality of life in LBK is already fantastic, an indoor pool and rec center would be mind blowing. Thanks for listening to your people Affordable rates that equal quality options is important. Thank you. This would be great! This community is full of youth and the elderly that would benefit from a facility with more options. Would be great not to have to drive out of town and to keep income in our town. Chin up bars, peck deck, full dumb bell sets from 5 to 60 lbs
I hope you are able to draw the right conclusions from such a simple survey. What I am willing to pay depends on what the facility offers on the day it opens, how accessible it is to my hours and, for instance, if the pool is strictly a lap pool, a resistance pool, whether a free swim is available at hours I can take advantage of it and if water exercise aerobics are only something one can do in a class, when those classes are scheduled. Not trying to be a smart alec, but if, for instance the swimming or exercise I want or need is only during hours that don't work for me, I won't use it. Great and much needed for our community! Thanks! This needs to be pre-teen, teen friendly. (middle school) Not all kids are into school sports and need to have a feel like the YMCA in Mcpherson. They need to feel like they can hang there and use facilities as long as they have a membership. Weights to lift! College wont allow niether will high school. A fitness center would certainly be an asset to Lindsborg I'd love to see the arts be represented in the wellness center as well... Maybe designated classroom space, exhibition areas, etc. Tennis Courts(s) THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!!!! We have a new building for meetings already Babysitting would be fantastic. Thanks for asking for our input Single mom with children!! Any wellness center would be a great addition to Lindsborg! The lack of one has been my only complaint about moving to Lindsborg 3 years ago. When kiddos go to school in Lindsborg and my husband and I both work in McPherson not having a facility here has made it hard for my husband and I to find time to make it to a gym. The track at the college works well in summer months but indoor activities would be wonderful the rest of the year! I don't think we need a full blown rec facility for volleyball basketball, but it would be nice to have a setup similar to Stroble for tourneys. Indoor pool would also be nice, but they are a long term financial nightmare. A nice indoor track (1/8 mile or so) would be great for the older population during the winter, along with weights and cardio equipment. If we can get folks energized it could be a cost neutral facilty. None We already have tennis, basketball, and baseball courts. A gym would be great though. This is a great idea, there is a real need in Lindsborg for a decent workout facility!! exercise bikes and an exercise class would be awesome! I would not want a bunch of grade school age kids running around. If they are allowed then there has to be parental supervision that is enforced. you should have a gaming room Lindsborg could use a facility like a YMCA, a little membership fee would keep members longer if they have to pay, but no contracts, this would bring jobs to Lindsborg.
I think per month is a lot. I would say 15 per month would be reasonable. pool most important to me, and then walking track we need to have more activities for support everyone here because number of people over weight and look unheathty. senior discount. Also work up a family plan. This survey is very flawed, I live outside the city limits and have invested in home workout equipment and do not have time to drive back and forth and would never use these facilities. I also Do not see providing exercise space and equipment as a role of the community. Individuals should be responsible for their own exercise. Providing the space and equipment is only a very small space part of residents fitness. Not having it only provides an excuse for those who wouldn t exercise anyway. Thank you for your work on this! Day care, especially with the price included in the monthly fee, would be ideal :) A 2-3 lane meter pool might be enough and still economical. Check out Council Grove. In the meeting/classroom space provide wellness education - cooking, gardening, art, parenting, support groups of various kinds, etc. no I recognize that previous community surveys have lifted a rec center up as a need. I question whether those surveys have been conducted in a way that gathers a wide variety of community voices. I suspect they have gathered the common voice of those with the space to respond to mailings, those for whom is life is mostly already comfortable. If a rec center moves forward, I hope there will be provisions for some sort of sliding scale. Otherwise it will simply serve the few. Also, what considerations are being made to partner this effort with USD 400 (several facilities in multiple buildings) and Bethany College (which also has extensive facilities). I m concerned that we re working on a project that could be addressed in much more cost effective ways, freeing up the time, energy, and resources of the community to work on much more essential, forward-thinking, and longer/lasting projects for the Lindsborg community. PLEASE tennis please would make my season better as I could play in the rain thank you We need a fitness center This is an amazing idea because it gives people more options to be active, and be able to get out and go do things with our family. Something like what Housington and Buhler have this will help I really like this idea! My family would really enjoy it! Id never use this nor pay for it. if there is a pool also have a hot tub
I have been involved in different endeavors like this before. My experience is people will participate a lot in the beginning and later attendance drops off. Expense of trainers, attendants and class instructors need to be figured in, as well as continuing education. I think it is a wonderful idea. I m just somewhat cautious Have the indoor track around the weight room single with children should be an option as that would best describe me Add a single with children to the demographics question. Also, after school care would be AMAZING. There s only 1 option in town and many people don t take their kids there so are left finding family and friends to take their kids in for a couple hours. Classes like karate that aren t available in town would be nice too. Thank you for your efforts in helping make this possible! I'm excited to hopefully see a Lindsborg Rec Center in the future!! Lindsborg hospital has workout room. The coffee shop has a place to study and coffee bar. There are meeting rooms in a few other places in lindsborg. Provide things that are not offered elsewhere in town. 24 hour access would be important. None indoor swimming pool is what we really need - for water aerobics and swimming!! Thank you, It would be nice to have a few platforms for free weights to do Olympic weightlifting. I am concerned if the revenue from membership dues will be sufficient to fund the facility, or if it will require subsidies from taxpayers A rock wall would be amazing! I think this would be a great addition to our town! Indoor pool for water aerobics I think this is a fantastic idea and anything you can add to the center the better it will be. I like the hospital gym just would love more. Also it would be nice if it was somehow open 24 hours for those of us who work weird hours. none None Personally I think $20-$30 for a FAMILY month would be good. Or even an annual charge of $120 for a year per FAMILY. The reason I don't use other gyms is because they charge far to much. If you charge to much, you would build this for no reason at all. We need more fitness classes in town and at more accommodating times, such as early in the morning or late evening. No additional thought or comments. I think it would be important to have it open until at least 10pm at night. I also think that perhaps a smoothie bar or something to that nature could be another way to create revenue within a wellness center. A coffee bar is not important to me. I want to go in and do equipment, weight lifting, swim and then get dressed and go home. I don't appreciate social time at a gym facility.
None I think a gym/wellness center is very much needed in this town as the one at the hospital is very outdated and small. I am single with kids that live with me. If you had an indoor pool not much need for outdoor pool. Decent cardio and gym equipment is a must. I think that if this were to happen there would need to be a scholarship program for those who could not afford the membership. They are the ones who could most benefit from this facility and are the least able to go somewhere else for these services. Sure, I'd love an indoor swimming pool. That's why I drive to Salina twice a week right now and pay $40 a month membership fee. But I realize that an indoor pool is expensive to operate -- perhaps too expensive to cash flow in a town of 3,500. I would appreciate it being considered but would also understand if the task force is ultimately unable to recommend it. That means I would still drive to Salina and pay $40 a month for the foreseeable future, thus making it somewhat more difficult to afford joining a rec center in Lindsborg, also. I probably would, but would need to weigh options. Thanks so much for conducting this survey and for your work on this key issue. Make sure to have concept 2 rowers. They are great low impact cardio and full body workout. nope It would not allow me to say I would not attend the facility, or not pay to use it. I would do neither. no I think students and adults alike will benefit from a building like this. I think this would be great for our community. I WOULD LOVE BATTING CAGES IN IT ALSO! WE NEED AN INDOOR SWIMMING POOL!! Baseball/Softball area would be awesome I appreciate everything that Lindsborg Recreation does. Either Smoky Valley gets a soccer team or Lindsborg starts a soccer club. There are no additional thoughts or comments that I have. Thank you! baseball field for anyones use why am I doing this survey I'm like a high schooler This would be a great idea for Lindsborg!! Possible indoor tennis rooms or table tennis. about 5 Indoor tennis courts well well well Nothing
More than one multipurpose room would good and I think that the incorporation of a rock climbing wall would be welcome. The inclusion of an arcade would also be strongly supported by me and plenty of others I'm sure. I think in addition to the racquetball/pickleball courts should be indoor tennis courts. Tennis has an important spot in Lindsborg. Think its a good idea none The recreation center sounds fun and useful. I think this would be an amazing addition to the Lindsborg community and would help a ton of people stay healthy and be active that might not be able to travel out of town. Don't have any. None None N/A Great Idea! YES none none I believe that if there was a room with wrestling matts, much people would enjoy. Their is a lot of wresters in the community and I believe it would be well appreciated. Thanks! This would be AWESOME! f a A basic gym in line with planet fitness price point would be amazing. We already have a pool tennis courts and other facilities, but a decent gym would be awesome. I think it should have stuff geared toward younger kids as well, ones too old for daycare, but not old enough for the adult equipment. we really need more fast food rest. such as McDonalds, arbys or sonic No There should be a competitive cheer gym It sounds like a really good idea for people to be able to stay fit. I think that this is an awesome idea! Hope it all works out I would like to see it in conjunction with Bethany College. The college is so important to the clutural and economic life of our greater community that we need to do everything together. This would be an amazing addition to the town. I would take full advantage of this and I am sure most families in town would.
It would also be a nice addition to have a Rock Climbing wall. It would not only benefit our community but it would draw others from Salina and McPherson allowing other businesses to benefit from their presence in our community. A bowling alley, movie theatre, and a fast food restaurant other than Subway would be awesome as well. An indoor pool with time set aside for adult only classes, walking & lap swim should be a must. Extra courts are needed for youth volleyball/basketball and an Indoor Walking Track is a no-brainer. Please bring a rec center to Lindsborg This would be so nice to have. I know that when I go outside of town to use the gym I also spend money outside of town. We already have most of the things mentioned Would love to see a room where the wrestlers of the community could go and work in the summer on their own. Unlike basketball where there's churches, outdoor courts, etc, these kids are given no option to work on their skills outside of when a coach is available. 24-hour access. Or at least open by 5 a.m. This would be awesome!! I am tired of working out in my basement!! Having an indoor swimming pool would be a deciding factor for our interest. A walking area would enhance our desire to join. We have been in an indoor exercise building in Beloit that has a pool and other exercise equipment. That might be a good facility to visit if you have not done so. Thanks for the opportunity to fill out a survey. We are a retired couple with only one address. The answers pertain to both of us. My responses reflect my age. If I were younger with kids at home, I d be wildly enthusiastic. Even so, this is a fabulous idea for Lindsborg! Let s do it! We currently use the small workout area at the hospital. We would use it for a fee if necessary, but like that there is currently no fee for use. A facility that includes an indoor pool would be one we would be willing to support financially. An indoor pool only needs areas for water aerobics and lap swimming. It does not need to be a huge playground as that is available in the South Park during the summer when most children are free to access it. A facility that is open to the whole community would be great. Best it is kept a good size for this small community and also best if it is not tied to college or public school use. It should be open to college and public students, but not closed for sports teams to use during different times of the day. We indicated the Degree of importance for the items we would use, but most of the ones listed would be necessary to insure maximum use (interest) for families and young adults in the community. With Wavemakers we already have a wonderful swimming program for our youth but it could be a year round sport if they had an indoor pool with hosting swim meets in mind during the planning stages. I drive to swim out of town, I would LOVE to have a pool in Lindsborg.
I don't think we need an "all or nothing" type of facility YET. Honestly, even if we have a large room w/ weights and cardio equipment that's a start. I like the idea of what they have in Marquette with a Key Card access room that people can go to. The fitness center at the hospital is nice, but not as convenient with the hours because of the PT schedule. It's great that we have it available, but need more. Eventually we'd love to have a larger facility with all the bells and whistles, but right now, a small place with access would be great. Have you toured Buhler's new rec center??? It's amazing. It's connected to their outdoor pool, but has an amazing space, but small and manageable. Please GO look at it!!!! It's awesome. Even a small therapy inside pool. We don't necessarily need a therapy pool, but it's a great space. Would like a lower price range of $10-20/month. A tennis court in addition to bball/vball. It would be nice to have something in town instead of having to go to McPherson or Salina. I feel that Lindsborg would strongly benefit from a rec center! We need SOMETHING! Instructors to teach exercise classes would be great! I appreciate the city and other partner groups coming together to take steps toward actually bringing this project to our community. I believe projects like this enhance standard of living and serve to recruit and retain population in Lindsborg. I am not in favor of a recreational facility of this type being connected with Bethany College. That organization has and should maintain its own facility for the use of its students. I see no problem with Bethany students paying for memberships if they wish, I just don't want to see Bethany College involved in the management, upkeep or operation of a community fitness facility. The big questions I have are: 1. Could it financially sustain itself or who would be subsidizing it? 2. Who would be monitoring the facility for the hours it would be open? 3. Is this in conjunction with the college and their future wish list of wanting to build a community/new basketball arena? (Also so heard they wanted to include a movie theatre, fast food place, etc.) As a parent of a child that participates in club volleyball and MAYB basketball finding gym space for practices is always challenging. It would be great to have a facility that our children could practice in our own town instead of having to travel to Salina, McPherson or Wichita to find a place for them to practice. Place and time for lap swimming and water aerobics A pool would be great! A great idea. Glad to see Lindsborg break away from traditional "purist" ideology that many of the deeply rooted Swedes support. Lindsborg can be a much better place with some "outside the box" thinking. Great idea as long as it doesn't simply duplicate what is already available for use at the college, the health clinic, or USD facilities. It would be a "dream" to have a fitness facility in Lindsborg! This would also help keep business in Lindsborg! Super idea. There needs to be people available to help with patrons, not the one-time training and you are on your own.
This needs to be an inviting place where people want to go to workout, socialize and do group or individual exercises. I think it should be east of the swimming pool so the families could utilize both the park, smimming pool and fitness center. If it is next to the high school and middle school another gym would be helpful and a walking track. Community folks can use the facility during the day and then for about 2 hours after school the schools could use the gym, pool...racquet ball courts would be very nice. Is the cost mentioned per month, per year, per visit? A Rec facility would be a great asset to Lindsborg! Many families and groups would use the facilitates, and save time and money not having to travel out of town. The schools could also use the center for different activities. My family would love this! This should be done without raising property or sales taxes and without adding any additional fees without a end date to my utility bill. If this involves the raising of taxes I am opposed. I would LOVE to see an indoor pool! We are currently members of a facility out of town and I would love to see my membership dues support something local. I also believe I would use it more if it were in town. No need for pickle ball courts or racquet ball. Gyms, multi purpose classrooms and workout facility most important. AFTER SCHOOL CARE PLEASE. THANKS! N/A
