2 Dear Visiting Teams, The University of Virginia s College at Wise s Athletic Training staff welcomes you to our campus. To accommodate you and your team during your travel to the University of Virginia s College at Wise, please find the following information helpful for your visit. Please contact a member of the Athletic Training Staff at least 24 hours prior to the event, if an athletic trainer will not be accompanying your team during their visit. In the absence of an athletic trainer, we will need documentation of any services needed. Please send medical supplies with your team for we will be unable to accommodate any team without their own supplies. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. 4 David J. Prior Convocation Center The athletic training room is located on the bottom level. From the gym floor, the athletic training room is through the home alleyway. From the visitor's locker room, take a right down the hall and the athletic training room will be at the end of the adjacent hallway. The David J. Prior Convocation Center is the home to our Men & Women s Basketball and Volleyball Teams. Modalities Available: Electrical Stimulation Hot Packs Ice Bags / Ice Massage Whirlpools Ultrasound Court Set-Up: 10 Gallon Ice Water Evaluation Table Emergency Splints First Aid Supplies Locker Room Set-Up: 7 Gallon Ice Water Visiting Team Guide Page 4
5 Humphrey-Thomas Field House & Carl Smith Stadium Access to the athletic training room is located on field side of building behind the brick wall. The Humphrey-Thomas Field House is home to our Football and Women s Lacrosse Teams. During football games, access to athletic training room will be available two and half hours before game upon request. During lacrosse games, the athletic training room will be open two hours before game. Team physician, Dr. Blackwell, will be available during football games. Modalities Available: Electrical Stimulation Hot Packs Ice Bags / Ice Massage Whirlpools Ultrasound *Prior arrangements must be made before football games Field Set-Up: Four 10 Gallon Ice Water (2 for Lacrosse) Evaluation Table Emergency Splints EMS (only available during football games) Locker Room Set-Up: Two 10 Gallon Ice Water Taping Tables Visiting Team Guide Page 5
6 Fred B. Greear Gymnasium The athletic training room is located through the gym on the far left hand corner. Greear Athletic Training Room provides service to our Baseball, Men and Women s Cross Country, Men and Women s Golf, Men and Women s Tennis, and Softball Teams. The athletic training room will be available two hours before baseball and softball games and one hour prior to tennis matches. 7 Stallard Field Stallard Field is home to our Baseball Team. Any athletic training services needed must be done at Fred B. Greear Gymnasium. Greear Gymnasium is located adjacent to Stallard Field. The athletic training room is located through the gym on the far left hand corner. For information on modalities available, see Fred G. Greear page. Please contact a member of the athletic training staff if access to the athletic training room is needed prior to game. The athletic training room will be open two hours before game. Any athletic training services needed must be done at Fred B. Greear Gymnasium. Greear Gymnasium is located adjacent to Stallard Field prior to going up hill toward Cavalier Field. The athletic training room is located through the gym on the far left hand corner. For information on modalities available, see Fred G. Greear page.
