2 2 The INTERVIEW Can you tell us how you are doing at present? I m doing well, I m attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings and I ve just done my first main share and I ve completed Step 1 of the 12 Step programme. I m volunteering in the Vault café and I m facilitating the HOPE group there. I m also volunteering at Bridge gym 4 days a week, helping new people with their exercise routines. So where what were you up to when you were in the grip of addiction I was stealing from family members and friends and shops as well. I was using absolutely anything I could get my hands on. At my lowest point I ended up homeless living in a car in a scrap yard contemplating suicide. Addiction had robbed me of everything. Family, house, job, car, driving licence and self respect. It brought me to my knees, mentally physically and spiritually. What advice have you got for those seeking recovery? Try your best to get yourself into recovery. Interaction with other clean people in The Vault is important. Stick at recovery, it is hard at first, but does get easier the more you work at it. How are things now with your personal relationships? I ve found that the vault community and the people I live with have become a kind of family as they can be

3 3 The INTERVIEW Helpful and supportive in the same way that a family can be. Where would you like to see yourself in a years time? I definitely want to be back in work. I ve got four different Fork lift truck licences and a very good work history in a lot of different areas. I ve also done Level 1 in volunteering. So I ve got a lot of qualifications and experience which will help me get back to where I want to be in the future RECOVERY RADIO SHOW On Bradford Community Broadcasting Fri 2 November PM and every four weeks after that
