Martini Schrader Loesch Action Items\New Business Conference Registration Update Foster Rebecca provided a registration break down to date as follows: o 28 booths sold o 119 conference registrations o 61 morning workshops o 69 afternoon workshops o 12 full day work shops The room for the beer tasting event will run $125. Rebecca: send vendor ideas to Kari Board Insurance Foster o One quote for insurance was received and accepted, Consortium is now insured 1

2 o Present members felt that we should probably obtain at least one more quote to be thorough GIS/LIS Shirts Martini Shirt cost structure break down is as follows: o Men s and Women s Polo shirts each are $19.99 o Men s t-shirts are $6.16 and Women s are $9.22 *Motion to order 100 women s and 100 men s t-shirts and 50 men s and 50 women s polo shirts for fund raising purposes. (Wakefield/ Geurts) Spring Workshops Martini o Jane is working on locations for spring workshops (March th ) and is looking into UMN facilities as part of the search. o Sally recommended looking into MNDOT training facilities o Present members agreed to include some level of advertisement and/ or a survey for the Spring Workshops in the Fall 2007 Conference materials 2007 Affiniscape goals Martini o Gerry said we are in a holding pattern while Affiniscape decides what of our change requests they will do vs. ones they feel are our responsibility to do o Membership database as accessed via the web works but does not look quite how we want it to at this time partly due to the previous comment (sub-bullet). o Banner advertising functionality ready to go. o Gerry intends to change the jobs page some. o Kari would like to improve the whole online registration process and layout and volunteered to work with Gerry to accomplish this. Gerry: add Chad as the contact to the contact us page Sally: obtain a data dump from the Reg Online which should give us user attendance data from Kari: query the conference vendors when in contact with them to see if they might be interested in sponsoring a banner on our web site. Steve: going to work to update the education portion of the web site Policy Kritzky o The discussion on whether or not to post the policy manual was tabled until Will is present so that he might contribute to the conversation. MAGE Meeting Steve met with the Minnesota Alliance for Geographic Education and discussed with them MN GIS/LIS sponsoring GIS mentors and generally how to pull together teachers and potential end users. o Sally recommended that Steve attend the GeoFest Conference (as she does) as a MN GIS/LIS board representative. 2

Accounts receivable continue to be resolved and $4,920 was received in the month of July. These are primarily Remote Sensing Workshop receivables although we are starting to see some vendor registrations coming in for the fall conference. Martini is compiling these letters and will send by Monday Aug. 27. Governor's Council No Report this month Conference Committee Report The conference committee met on Thursday, August 16 th. The Onsite Program materials were sent to Ewald on Monday, August 20 th. The Planning Committee reviewed the traffic flow plan for Taylor Arena to help attendees move through the Exhibitor Booths, Posters, Silent Auction, Vendor Reception and seated lunches. Discussed the Best Booth Ballet Discussed the schedule for Thursday & Friday lunches. Mn/DOT hopes to do a presentation on how they ve used GIS with the I-35W Bridge Collapse during the Thursday Awards lunch. Professional Development Committee: No Report this month Database Committee Everything seems to be running. I've been in contact with affiniscape, and have begun the discussions on how to change some of the templates for a number of our membership pages. Hopefully, we'll hear something soon on if these changes can be made. Once those are addressed. I'll be working with Dave S. at Ewald on establishing the members only page. Nancy Rader made a number of suggestions and comments that I hope to get an answer within this same time frame. I'd like to attempt a broadcast sometime in early September to update the address book. But it looks like most have figured things out. I've only had one with questions/comments in the past month. So it looks like things are working. Conference registrations seems to be working, looks like we already have 117 registered. LMIC Report No Report this month Newsletter Newsletter Committee: Almost all articles edited and forwarded to Gerry. We've been working around vacation schedules of all four team members, so we're a little behind. The fall issues should be online in early September. Education and Outreach Committee The education and outreach committee is working on putting together a presentation package for the speaker's bureau that we hope to have posted on our website in time for the Fall conference. We are 5

6 also reviewing the current content on the Consortium's education web page and will be submitting an update. Sally is once again participating in GeoFest and I have contacted MAGE to begin discussing other ways of collaborating on K-12 education efforts. Scholarship We will NOT be selling raffle tickets this year. A thanks to Scott F, Ewald, for contacting me first about this!!! Bios and abstracts are still trickling in; there are 4 still outstanding. Silent Auction notice is included in each E-Announcement. Currently have about 7 items donated, although I've received a few s that folks do plan to donate. This number will likely increase as we get closer to the conference. Policy No new changes; haven't had time to work on it. I know at one time we talked about making this document public and putting it on our website, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to be placed in a secured online location for board member's only. I just don't believe this document would be of much interest to our general public. History No new updates. Have not had a chance to contact Catherine. At the last board meeting I was asked to this document out to everyone, but to date, have not received any changes back. Have received s saying it was a "nice walk down memory lane!" Don Y. had volunteered to do some research on the earlier years. 6
