The most important part of summer is golf. I would like to remind everyone about our annual Mark A. Hagan, PE Golf outing at the beautiful Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club. The date of the outing is June 19, Let s all thank the golf committee for the commitment they made so that everyone will have a good time. With this event will meet our ASHRAE research contribution goal. The Wise Crackers Comedy night was a good time. I would like to thank everyone for coming. The gift baskets were fantastic for the after-show raffle. To firms and companies that donated the gift baskets, thank you. Without your contribution s the night would not be as successful as it was. We still have the car show coming up in the fall. Contact Ron Sibulsky for more information. I would like to thank Walt Stout our outgoing Secretary for his comment to the chapter over the years. Thank you everyone for putting their faith in me as President for one more year. I am looking forward to working with the Officers and Chairs to make next year a success. Region III CRC in Pittsburgh, PA will be held on August 16, 17 & 18, The Pittsburgh Chapter will be hosting and they would like to invite all members to come the conference. 2 NEWS and Notes Annual Golf Outing Reminder If you will be attending the golf outing next Tuesday at Blue Ridge Trail, please plan to arrive early so that we can start on time at 11:00 am sharp. Thanks to all who will be attending, and for all who provided prizes and sponsored holes. It is sure to be a great time. Chapter Scholarship Awarded Each year the Anthracite Chapter awards a scholarship to a deserving student in an industry-related program. This year s recipient was Kaitlyn Litwhiler (right), a Drafting and Design Student at the Columbia-Montour Vocational Technical School in Bloomsburg, PA. The award was presented in May by Chapter Governor Alyssa Procida. Thanks to all those who support the Chapter, so that we can support the next generation of HVAC practitioners. Sponsors Needed for September 15 th Car Show We are in dire need of sponsors for our car show this year. This is the first year we are doing a rain date (September 16 th ) so I am confident that it will also be our best show to date. But in order for it to be the success I know it will be we need the support of the chapter. So far we only have one main sponsor, Highland Associates. We need at least one more full sponsor to cover the expenses of putting on this event. I am asking for everyone s help in getting the word out. If you know of someone who would be interested in getting their name out in front of all these car collectors, engineers, and contractors please ask them to support this event. And if any of you can sponsor one of the awards that would also be helpful. 3 More NEWS and Notes ASHRAE Region III CRC Scheduled for Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh Chapter of ASHRAE invites you celebrate its 100 th year by attending the Chapters Regional Conference on August 16 th, 17 th and 18 th. The conference hotel will be the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel, and the welcome reception will be held at the Senator John Heinz History Center. Hotel reservations must be made prior to July 22 nd to receive the conference rate.
