1 Park Hill Christian Church NEWSLETTER Oct 29, 2017 The deep Christian view of God is Trinity, a flow of love, a giving and receiving of life shared between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In this vision, the universe (including you and me) comes out of this flow and is saved by becoming fully connected to this love, to this God. It makes sense then that when we feel life and love flowing between people and uniting them, we ll often sense the presence of God. I noticed this last week at The Fuller Center BBQ. This is how The Fuller Center describes who it is and what it does: We build and repair houses in partnership with families in need. Homeowners work with volunteers and then repay the costs of materials on terms they can afford, with no interest charged or profit made. This is charity with dignity that creates decent homes and revitalizes communities. At the BBQ, recipients of Fuller projects talked about the life the Center had shared with them. Representatives of the Fuller Center talked about going to build houses and how the people receiving them shared incredible amounts of life and love with them. The recipients of homes and the funders of homes were treated as equals, as they are in the sight of God. During the evening, this uniting flow of life and love moved back and forth across socio-economic brackets, educational levels, and ethnic backgrounds. It didn t feel built on some lame dynamic of winners and losers or good/responsible people and bad/irresponsible people. The sharing of life and honor was simply joyful, lively, and a touch divine. And the flow of love began to reach out further. At some point in the evening, one of the Fuller Center folks mentioned having someone in his congregation who s from Puerto Rico. They ve started talking about a build trip down to Puerto Rico. You know, Puerto Rico, the US territory that s in shambles after a debilitating hurricane hit. Puerto Rico feels a long way away from me, although it isn t. But Fuller Center love is seeking to flow there and unite the island to the ministry of God done through a group of Christian-folk in Kansas City. If Fuller goes to Puerto Rico, I bet that would be a sweet trip to go on. How is love of God flowing to you? From whom? From where? How is the God of love flowing from you? To whom? To where? Noticing such things may just bring us to life in a new way. In Christ s Peace, Robert 1
