2 SECOND QUARTER MISSION: HOMELESS CHILDREN Advent s second quarter mission is to support the homeless children in our community. In an effort to continue Advent s support of our homeless population in our local area, the confirmation students and our youth are gathering summer items, listed below. Your help would be appreciated by either purchasing items and drop them off at the church, or by donating funds and the youth will purchase the necessary items. Farm fresh free-range chicken eggs will be available on a limited basis in the Berkland Fellowship Hall Sunday mornings. All goodwill donations will be used to purchase these items for the homeless. Hygiene items: Note: We really appreciate receiving donations of travel size products, but whenever possible, full size hygiene products are a special luxury that our clients are always excited to have. Toothpaste and toothbrush Deodorant Shampoo Conditioner Shower Gel Sunscreen Disposable razor and shaving lotion Body lotion Hair spray / Hair gel Towel / wash rag Specialty Items to consider: - Classic family games for all ages - Gift cards for outings; movie passes, bowling passes, swim passes, etc. - Gift cards for eating out; MOD Pizza is a great option because there are healthy choices, a family friendly environment, and it s a reasonable price point. Another edible treat option would be Baskin Robbins for ice cream - socks in a range of sizes - Journal or sketch pads (with both of these options colored pencils and sharpeners or crayons) - Outdoor fun stuff like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, Frisbees, balls, etc. (Water play stuff is fun, but please keep in mind that we avoid distributing weapon-style play items like; squirt guns) 2

3 MAY 28 SUMMER SCHEDULE AND HONORING PHIL ROBB Beginning Sunday, May 28, we will have one worship service only for the summer months, beginning at 9:30 AM. Following worship on May 28, we will have a BBQ thanking Phil Robb for his service as Music Director in our congregation. 5 MEN S FELLOWSHIP BARBECUE MAY 20, PM HOLIDAY OAKS DRIVE MORGAN HILL, CA GEORGE CROW S PLACE 1-(408) Advent men and young men are invited to a barbecue on Saturday afternoon from 2-6 pm. Come and visit, get acquainted with new friends, and reconnected with folks you never have time to visit with at church on Sundays. There will be snacks, barbecue and drinks as we gather and visit. You ll meet and hear from current Men s Fellowship participants about our regular, ongoing Saturday program and have an opportunity to share with the group your ideas and ways you enjoy relaxing and becoming a part of the Fellowship. From Your Stewardship Committee Vision Team Today we recognize the Vision Team, which has been working with Kevin Graham Ford of TAG Consultants since January 2016 on Advent s Transforming Church process. The Vision Team includes the Church Council and at-large members, especially those with children and youth, contributing to this process. The Vision Team has met in Saturday/Sunday retreats with Kevin Ford in January, February and May of 2016 and is meeting with him this weekend for a follow-up retreat. The team has assessed our current realities; developed a statement of our core values, with wider congregational input; determined our strategic focus; developed and carried out, with others in the congregation, actions to support this focus; and is meeting this weekend to better align our infrastructure, culture and brand with our core ideology. Your gifts and participation make a difference! THE GOOD EGG AWARD The council has decided to initiate a new reward ---the GOOD EGG Award. Today three people will be presented with their Good Egg and a certificate. If you see someone doing something like our three GOOD EGGS today, talk to a council member so we don t fail to celebrate and appreciate these people who are such treasures. 6

Dress rehearsal: Friday night, 7:00-8:30 PM, performance: Saturday night 7:30 PM COST $250 for first child $225 for the second child (same family, same session) $175 for each additional child (same family, same session) Children must be from the same household to qualify for family rates Payment is due with registration forms.
