Overight Advetures are a uique opportuity for childre ages first grade ad older to sped the ight at McWae Sciece Ceter. Ejoy our Sciece Spectacular show the sped your eveig havig your very ow after hours adveture (do t forget your flashlight!) Before you kow it, you will be crawlig ito your sleepig bag ext to your favorite exhibits- maybe you ll eve get to sleep with the diosaurs! Whe are Overight Advetures offered? Overight Advetures begi at 6:00 PM ad coclude at 8:00 AM the followig morig. For groups of 100 or more, you ca call to reserve a private overight adveture for a date of your choosig (based o availability). We offer shared ope dates for groups less tha 100. Visit for a listig of ope dates available. Who are Overight Advetures desiged for? Overight Advetures are for childre ages first grade ad older ad their chaperoes. Idividual families ad groups ca register for our family sleepovers which ca be foud at evets. Scouts, schools, churches, commuity groups ad others are welcome to reserve a Overight Adveture. What size group do I eed? Groups ca rage i size, but must always maitai a miimum 1:5 ratio of chaperoes to childre. Miimum group size is 100 (17 chaperoes ad 85 childre). Chaperoes must be at least 21 years old. Childre must be first grade or older. We have the right to refuse etry if age requiremets are ot met. How much does a Overight Adveture cost? Overight Advetures start at $40 per participat. This fee will cover dier, afterhours access to the exhibits, a Sciece Spectacular show, ad cotietal breakfast the followig morig. Additioal optios such as IMAX movie, liquid itroge ice cream, merit badge programs, classroom activities, etc. may be added for a additioal fee. Please cotact our Overight Adveture staff for more details. Whe should I register for my Overight Adveture? We require a miimum of oe moth advaced registratio. If you kow your schedule i advace, we recommed registerig as soo as possible. Every seaso a umber of our overight dates WILL SELL OUT. How do idividual families purchase tickets for Overight Advetures? Our Overight Advetures are reserved for groups of 100 or more. Families ca purchase tickets for our public family sleepovers olie at or call our Reservatios Office at How do groups reserve a Overight Adveture? To reserve a private overight, your group must: 1. Choose a Group Leader this is someoe who will atted the evet ad serve as the liaiso to McWae Sciece Ceter before ad durig the evet. 2. Have the Group Leader complete the Group Registratio Form. (located i the Group Leader Packet dowloaded at mcwae. org/visit/special-evets/overight-advetures) 3. The height limit for the deck is 6 8. Cost: $5.00 required to exit deck. The exit gate accepts $1, $5, $10, $20 bills as well as debit ad credit cards. The deck will be closed from 10:00 PM-6:30 AM. Additioal parkig is available o the streets surroudig the ceter. O Moday Friday there is a 2-hour limit o the street parkig. The meter charges $0.25/hour. 6 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS GENERAL QUESTION How do I check-i? Everyoe should pla to come to the Group Check-i located i the 2d Ave side of the lobby directly across from Vulca Dream Machie. No other doors will be ope durig check-i without prior arragemet. What should I do as a Group Leader? Group Leaders should arrive at 5:30 PM to check i ad receive their Overight Adveture Registratio Packet from a Overight Adveture staff member. After check-i, Group Leaders should coect with their Group Members. Group members- please kow the ame of your group ad Group Leader s ame who is attedig the evet. Group Leaders should stay i the lobby util 6:30 PM or util their whole group is preset. All Group Leaders ad Group Members are required to atted our 7:00 PM orietatio. I m a participat- what time should I arrive? Check-i starts at 5:45 PM. Please pla to arrive betwee 5:45 PM ad 6: 00PM. This gives you time to get checked i ad make it to dier. Orietatio begis at 7:00 PM. Orietatio is madatory how else are you goig to fid out about all the cool thigs plaed for the ight?! What if I arrive late? We uderstad traffic gettig ito Birmigham ca be tough. Please make every effort to arrive o time, but if you arrive late, you ca eter through the 2d Ave doors util 7 PM. If you pla to arrive after 7 PM you must have commuicated your late arrival with your Group Leader so special arragemets ca be made. NOTE: Arrivig after 7 PM is strogly discouraged. No oe will be admitted to McWae Sciece Ceter after 10 PM. PARKING QUESTIONS Where will I park? McWae Sciece Ceter s parkig deck offers safe ad coveiet parkig o 2d Aveue North. The height limit for the deck is 6 8. Do I have to pay for parkig? Oly if you leave early. Otherwise the parkig exit gate will be raised at 7:00 AM o the morig of departure ad you will ot be required to pay to exit the deck. The exit gate accepts $1, $5, $10 ad $20 bills as well as debit ad credit cards. Where should I park if I eed a hadicap accessible parkig space/etrace? We have hadicap accessible parkig spaces throughout our parkig deck.

No outside food is ot allowed iside McWae Sciece Ceter. You caot order pizza, etc. to have while at the museum. What food will be provided? Dier will be provided from 6-6:45 PM o the eveig of the overight ad a cotietal breakfast will be provided at 7-7:45 AM the followig morig. I m thirsty - where ca I get a drik? Vedig machies are located i the lower level of the museum. Water foutais are located across from the elevators o every level. Vedig machies are for use at your ow risk. Overight Adveture staff will ot be able to issue ay refuds. Ca I eat food i the exhibit halls? No, food is ot allowed i the adveture halls icludig cady, gum, ad driks. I order to protect the exhibits, we oly allow guests to eat i the desigated areas of the Smart Café ad i the vedig area o the lower level of the museum. Food foud i the Adveture Halls/sleepig areas will be cofiscated. Ca I brig a birthday cake or cupcakes to celebrate my child s birthday at the sleepover? No, outside food is ot permitted i McWae Sciece Ceter. What if I have a allergy or other dietary restrictios? You will be allowed to brig your ow food oly uder the followig coditios: Food must be sealed i a heavy-duty plastic cotaier (Tupperware, ot a Ziploc bag), labeled with the guest s ame. It must be give to a overight staff member at check-i to be placed i the kitche prep area ad left there for the duratio of the evet (staff will get it for you durig dier/ breakfast) Items must be o-perishable, as overight staff will ot have access to refrigeratio or microwaves for guest s food. Food items will be give to a McWae staff member upo check i Ay food ot meetig these criteria or that is foud i a Adveture Hall will be immediately cofiscated. special eeds questios Is McWae Sciece Ceter hadicapped-accessible? Yes, the museum ad all sleepover activities are hadicappedaccessible. Elevators ad ramps serve all public areas icludig the IMAX Dome Theater. the eveig. If you require sleepig areas with 24 hr power (such as for a CPAP machie), earby access to restrooms ad elevators, or have other requests, please cotact overight staff ASAP to esure we ca accommodate your eeds. Do ot wait to cotact staff as delayig requests may mea ot beig able to accommodate your eeds. Who should I cotact if I have a special eed? If you have special eeds ad are part of a group, please call the overight office at a miimum of 1 week i advace to speak with a Overight staff member about your requests for

8 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONs sleepig questios Where will I be sleepig? Each group will have a specific area desigated as their sleep space. The space you are assiged depeds o the size of your group. All groups will be sleepig o Level 2 or 3 of the adveture halls. NOTE: All the sleepig areas are carpeted but do ot have sigificat paddig. Whe ca I set up my stuff? After dier guests are ecouraged to leave their belogigs i their sleepig area as a meas of stakig out their ow spot. Please do ot spread out your gear util after 10:30 PM, so all guests ca ejoy the exhibits. For safety reasos, please be midful to leave a clear walkway through exhibits whe spreadig out your gear later i the eveig. Settig up i frot of a desigated exit sig or stairs is strictly prohibited. Guests ot complyig with these requests will be asked to move their beddig. Will I be warm or cold while I m sleepig? Both. We do our best to keep the temperatures moderate ad comfortable durig a overight, but this is a big buildig ad temperature ca vary from hall to hall. To be safe, we suggest brigig layers of clothes - as i a t-shirt ad a sweatshirt. Will I have access to 24 hour electricity i my sleepig area? Maybe. If you eed a plug to iflate your air mattress, we recommed doig so before lights-out. If you eed help fidig a outlet, feel free to ask Overight Adveture staff to direct you to a earby outlet. I some areas, the power to the outlets will tur off whe the lights are tured off. If you eed 24 hour access to electricity (for example, if you use a CPAP), please cotact overights@mcwae.orgat least oe week prior to the overight evet to make sure you are directed to a sleepig locatio that will have workig outlets. Where do we chage ito our sleepig clothes? Restrooms are available o each level of the museum, located directly across from the elevators. departure questios Whe do I have to pack up my gear? All your gear (sleepig bags, etc.) eed to be out of the Adveture Halls by 7:45 AM. We ask you take your belogigs with you whe you head to breakfast. What if I have to leave early? If you are leavig before 8 AM, please cotact a Overight Adveture staff member or a Security Officer. What if we wat more time to explore? You are welcome to come back ad cotiue explorig the museum oce we ope to the public. Additioal McWae Sciece Ceter merchadise ca be purchased i our COOL STUFF STORE. Hours of operatio will vary based o Overight Adveture schedule. How do I pre-order my shirts? You may fill out the Merchadise Pre-Order Form ad sed it via to overights@mcwae.org or mail a hard copy to McWae Sciece Ceter (do t forget to address it to Att: Overights!). Merchadise Pre-Order Forms must be received a week before the overight evet or they will ot be processed. Where ca I pick up merchadise that I pre-ordered? Pre-orders ca be picked up at check-i whe you receive your Overight Adveture Registratio packet. NOTE: the Group Leader ca pick up all the items to distribute OR each order ca be picked up idividually. Please make arragemets with your group beforehad if you are goig to pick up multiple orders. Will the gift shop be ope? COOL STUFF STORE will be ope for limited hours durig the Overight Adveture. Please check your schedule for times of operatio. Do you have Pey Presses? Yes! Remember to brig quarters or a shiy pey if you would like to make oe of these souveirs i the Lobby. 10 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONs safety questios What are the rules? To make sure everyoe s eveig is ejoyable, we ask everyoe to adhere to the followig guidelies durig the sleepover: Have fu! No food or drik is allowed outside of the eatig area. Oe chaperoe is required for every five childre ad must stay with them at all times. Chaperoes are resposible for the behavior of their group throughout their stay at the Overight Adveture. Childre are ot permitted to play o stairways or elevators ad are expected to be respectful to others ad their belogigs. The speed limit at McWae is WALKING; Please do ot ru or yell while i the museum. Please do ot go to floors or areas that are off limits durig the sleepover. Follow your schedule. Shirts ad Shoes (or slippers) must be wor throughout the eveig. No Heelys are allowed. After Lights Out, chaperoes are resposible for keepig their childre i their assiged sleepig area ad must accompay them to the restroom. All MP3 players ad electroic games or devices should be left at home. Cell phoes should be sileced after lights out. Alcohol is ot allowed o the premises durig sleepovers. Violators will be asked to leave. Will there be security preset at the overight? Yes. The Overight Adveture departmet has staff members iside the buildig 24 hours a day. A Overight staff perso or a Security Officer ca almost always be foud i at the group check i desk i the lobby. What do I do if I eed help after lights out? Notify a Overight Staff member or a Security Officer. Oe security guard will be statioed at Group Check i (located i the lobby) ad oe will also roam the museum. Overight Adveture staff ca be located i the cabi (located o level 2) or by callig What behaviors will be cause for removal from The Museum? The Overight Adveture staff ad Security officers reserve the right to remove guests from McWae Sciece Ceter durig a Overight Adveture program. Behavior that would merit removal from McWae Sciece Ceter icludes, but is ot limited to, belligerece to a staff perso or other guest, fightig, possessio or cosumptio of alcohol or illegal substaces. Refuds will ot be issued.

No. We receive may requests from people to brig childre to the overights that are outside our desigated age rage. I the iterest of fairess, we ca t make a exceptio for some participats while refusig it for others. Additioally, the activities offered are desiged for childre first grade ad older. Childre who are youger would ot fid them appropriate for their skills ad/or iterests. Ca I buy a extra ticket at the door? No. All tickets must be purchased i advace of the evet. How do I buy tickets for the IMAX movie? Tickets are offered i advace for the etire group at a rate of $10/ perso (with a miimum of 100 people) You caot buy tickets the ight of the evet. Ca I get a refud if I do ot atted the evet? No. McWae Sciece Ceter is ot resposible for persoal matters that may bar participats from attedig the overight evet. No refuds will be issued. Whe do I receive cofirmatio for the Overight Adveture? A Overight Adveture will be cofirmed upo the receipt of a siged registratio cotract ad a $250 o-refudable deposit. Fial umbers ad paymet are required a miimum of 3 weeks prior to the scheduled Overight Adveture date. Oce fial umbers ad paymet are received, a Overight Adveture staff member will cotact you with additioal iformatio regardig your Overight Adveture. What should we do if we wat to icrease the size of our group? If your group size is goig to icrease dramatically by 10 people or more cotact the Overight Adveture office ASAP to esure additioal spaces are available. The group size ca chage util fial paymet is due 3 weeks before the program date or util the evet reaches capacity (whichever comes first). After the fial paymet due date, groups icreasig their size will be required to cotact a staff member at overights@mcwae.orgto request additioal spots. McWae will make every effort to accommodate those requests up to 1 week before the program date. McWae caot accommodate requests made the week of the Overight or the ight of the evet. NOTE: checks will ot be accepted for icreases i group size. All tickets will be charged to the credit card o file. What happes if group members are uable to atted ad the group size shriks? The group size ca chage util fial paymet is due 3 weeks before the program date. Groups reducig their size after the fial paymet due date may choose to fid replacemet attedees for those group members uable to atted. However, o refuds will be made at this poit.
