A Monthly Newsletter Issue 2- October 201 CEO s Corner A New Year A Re~Newed Passion January 2013 finds us with our letter of determination declaring TINHIHfoundation a 501( c)3 Non-Profit Organization. We are blessed and ready to meet our mission state with a renewed passion and determination. Our first Community Awareness Forum was held on 1/17 at Miracle Mile TPD Substation with about 30 participants. We showed the movie, Nequa on Drugs and then has a question an answer period with two recovering addicts, Lena and Cody, both volunteers of our foundation. The next forum is on 2/21 and we will have representatives from resources around the community, to educate about the various recovery options available in Tucson. On January 23 rd we met with the Adopt a Highway program to scope out our community service location. It appears the Tucson City Court has approved the foundation for diversion and community service hours for minor drug convictions. We begin clean up at the Miracle Mile- Flowing Wells area in February. Volunteers welcome. Our Family Support Group has decided to continue its group bond the 12- weeks. We are learning about finding ourselves in the middle of our loved ones addiction. We are planning a support group for the Oro Valley area starting in March. Those interested can contact our office and leave a message, The biggest news is that we are in the final stages of approval for a grant from Perdue Pharma, the makers of Oxycontin, to underwrite a National Conference for Addiction/Recovery specialists and Pain Medicine Prescribers. If the grant is approved, the conference will also have a special tract for parents of addicts, at no cost to attend (except travel /room). We will definitely keep everyone posted. This is an amazing opportunity.

2 On Monday 2/11/13 we host our 2 nd Annual Black Monday Event at Tucson City Hall, at 5:30pm. Bring balloons to launch- red as a reminder for those loved ones who lost their lives to addiction; white for those in recovery and black for those still lost in addiction! 3 The Heroes Corner We made 4 referrals in the past month: 4 to rehab We assisted a teen in crisis. We received 12 hotline calls If you or a loved one is a hero in his or her recover, let us know. We would love to spotlight their achievement. Toiletry Drive Do you collect hotel amenities when you go on vacation? Are they just hanging in your bathroom cabinet, just in case? Well, have I got an idea for you! We are collecting trial/hotel size hygiene products- toothpaste, toothbrushes, soaps, shampoos, razors, and dental floss to hand out to those in need. Financial Assistance TINHIH Foundation is raising money to offset the high cost of inpatient or IOP rehabilitation, or the cost of family counseling. We also provide assistance to help those in recovery re-establish themselves in the community. Just $5.00/ day can make the difference in the life of a hero in the making.
