1 Fall 2016 News from the Heart of Illinois Chapter Home of the Beardstown Ladies Investment Club NON-PROFIT VOLUNTEER BASED MEMBER DRIVEN KEN AND MARK ARE COMING! Save the date Saturday, November 12, Ken Kavula and Mark Robertson will be coming to central Illinois to present a morning program for all people interested in investing. This will take place at Midstate College in Peoria, Illinois. The Heart of Illinois Chapter (HOIC) is so excited to be able to offer this opportunity to the investing community. The cost will be $10 per person, and more details will follow in the coming months. HAVE YOU REALLY EXPLORED the information contained in the SSG header area? Bobbie Kincaid, one of our chapter directors, will be discussing this topic in her presentation, Evaluating Criteria in the SSG Header. This conversation will take place at the upcoming HOIC Roundtable board meeting on Monday, September 12, by GoToMeeting. You should have already received an notice about this event from us. Please join the meeting at 7:00 p.m. CDT by clicking on Use your microphone or VoIP speakers. Or dial in to on your telephone and enter access code This call is open to the public. CHRIS WISSMILLER RECEIVED the Kenfield-Burris Online Service Award that was given at the BetterInvesting Convention (BINC) earlier this year. Chris has been a very active member of BetterInvesting since She quickly became a volunteer and then a director of HOIC. Since that time, she has encouraged others through teaching classes at club meetings, HOIC events, and online. She helped the chapter directors learn how to organize and put on GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar events. She has acted as our organizer at our monthly GoToMeeting sessions and is willing to set up one for any club s education event. She is always patiently supporting and encouraging those who do not have much technical expertise. Chris is our technical contact with BetterInvesting and has spent many hours getting correct notices in the BI magazine and online. She has cleaned up our chapter web page and is keeping it current. Chris recently represented HOIC at the Polishing Your Presentation Skills workshop earlier this year in Chicago, and will be busy using those skills to expand BI teaching methods and more to investors. Many thanks and kudos to Chris for her unselfish volunteer efforts. The Kenfield-Burris Online Service Award for contributions to BI online investment education is presented to honor the memories of Dick Kenfield and Wendell Burris, two individuals who unselfishly gave their time to teach BI methods and principles as well as computerized investing to the online investing community.
2 Page 2 WELCOME VOLUNTEERS! Volunteering can be one of the best ways to fill a need.
