1 BLUE RIBBON COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER We hope this current edition of the community newsletter finds you all doing well! This quarterly March edition is a comprehensive summary of community issues and a look at what is to come in the next 3 months. This is being mailed as a courtesy communication to all homeowners. 2 BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING The Board of Directors held a meeting on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. at Glenwood Elementary. The next meeting will be held on May 10, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in our Common Area. The complete schedule for board meetings is posted on the website at opinion counts and we encourage everyone to attend the Board meetings. Mailbox Replacement Project Update We are very pleased to announce on March 18 th the BOD signed a contract with Evans Mitchell to begin the mailbox replacement project. Mailboxes are currently on order from the manufacturer and the project will begin within a week of receipt of all the materials. Evans Mitchell will distribute notification to each homeowner prior to starting the mailbox replacement. They estimate the entire replacement project will only take 7 to 10 days, weather dependent, once begun. ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD MEETING The next ARB meeting will be held on April 5, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. at Glenwood Elementary School. The ARB will continue to discuss maintenance of all the BMPs located within IRF. They will also be discussing the topic of adding lighting to the Common Area. There are currently 2 member openings that the ARB is trying to fill. The Board of Directors will appoint 2 positions at their next scheduled meeting on May 10 th. If you are interested in volunteering to be on the ARB, please contact boardofdirectors@indianriverfarms hoa.org, or Michaela Audet at UPA (maudet@unitedproperty.org). As a homeowner, if you feel that an ARB guideline needs to be reviewed please contact one of the current ARB members so it can be added to our discussion topic in a timely manner. Current ARB members include Ms. Najwa Wynn, Ms. Tina Sudduth, and Mr. Javier Medina.

3 EASTER EGG HUNT join the rest of your neighbors in this year s community yard sale. It will be held on Saturday, May 14, An ad will be run in the Virginian-Pilot and our community sign will be posted prior to the day! KENTUCKY DERBY PARTY The social committee will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt in our common area on Saturday, March, 26 th at 1:00 p.m. There will be a Kiddy Hunt for kids 6 and under and a Big Kid Hunt for those children 7 and older. There will be food and fun for the whole family. Games and other activities with special prizes will be provided by the social committee. ANNUAL COMMUNITY YARD SALE EVENT What do horses, mint juleps and big hats all have in common? The running of the Kentucky Derby! The first annual Kentucky Derby Mixer will be held on Saturday, May 7 th, from 4 p.m. to dark. B-Y-O everything kids, beverages, chairs, sunscreen, snacks and come out and enjoy the day with your neighbors. NEW LANDSCAPER It s that time of year again to get started on the spring cleaning. Have you come across some things that you just don t need anymore? Well, All Things Green is our community s new landscaper. They have already gotten to work mulching the beds at the community s entrance.

4 SPRING BREAK Day to your mom, your grandma, your sister, your best friend and any woman who is a Mom whether it be biological, step or adoptive celebrate them all! SOCIAL COMMITTEE Good bye, winter! Hello, spring! Our school-aged children will be out of school for spring break from March 28 th through April 1 st. Just a reminder to watch for children at play as you are driving through the neighborhood. MOTHER S DAY The social committee will be welcoming 4 new neighbors in IRF with small welcome gift baskets. Also, they will celebrate the arrival of a baby girl to Stacy Nixon and her family. FINAL WORD Don t forget Mother s Day is Sunday, May 8 th, this year. A special day that we honor the women who mean so much to us. The dictionary defines Mother as a female parent. Mothers are more than just a parent. They are our strong defenders, the ones who comfort us when we are sick or sad, our own personal nurses, our chefs, our confidants and one who has love for us that is never ending. So take some time to wish a Happy Mother s We hope you enjoyed the latest edition of your community newsletter. The BOD is looking for a volunteer willing to partner with the BOD to compile the newsletter content for the community. This person should be able to attend each board meeting and process/provide feedback to and from the board.
