1 Vol 42 Issue 4 August 2, 2017 President s Message Hello Everyone, At last week s meeting, a select group heard from Brian Tyedin and Felix Wong about Membership initiatives in our District. They shared a lot of thoughts and ideas for us to consider, one of which was to take a club selfie. I took the selfie and it is clear that I need more practice as I missed half the room (sorry about that) however it was good fun! Those present then had a short presentation from yours truly and found out a bit more about my background. Our exchange student, Neele Huebner, arrived in Melbourne from Germany on Saturday night with a group of ten students. She stayed with the McFarlands on her first night and will now spend a couple of weeks with the Monleys. Please extend Neele (pronounced neeler) a warm Templestowe welcome when she visits our club this week. In order to comply with recently updated Australian regulations, it is more important than ever for all members of our club to have a Working With Children Check, particularly as we are once again involved in Youth Exchange. It is now easier than ever and can be done online. If you already have one you are halfway there and just need to check the expiry date and ensure it doesn t expire. Members of our club are beyond reproach, however as well as doing the right thing we must ensure we are seen to be doing the right thing. I know all members will agree. Please see Diane Fisher, Club Protection Officer, if you need more information. Finally, please keep a record of the hours that you work either doing or meeting on community, fundraising, international, ABCD and youth work for a service hours records, and PLEASE remember, if you are rostered for meeting duty and are unable for any reason to carry out that duty, you will need to find a replacement who will be present on the night. Thanks very much. Yours in Rotary Making a Difference. Janis Page 1 of 6
