5 Janesville Noon Lions Janesville Noon Lions Club was established in 1922 Established a strong relationship with the City Lions Club donated 29 acres of land (Goose Island) in 1929 now known as Traxler Park Together we have delivered many successful projects using the public / private partnership approach We Care. 6 Janesville Noon Lions Highlight a few Lions projects since 1922 Lions Beach is probably most recognizable Education Center building at JSOL Lions Pavilion at Traxler Park Lions Pavilion at Sportsman s Park We Care. We Serve. We Accomplish.

8 Janesville Noon Lions Members are involved in the community Maintain landscaping behind the Library Transport eye tissue between Madison and Rockford for transplants Drive members of Blackhawk Pioneers Work with WCBVI Award scholarships to students We Care. We Serve. We Accomplish.

9 Janesville Noon Lions Recent Projects: Improvements to the area behind Hedberg Library $3,000 contribution to the new Traxler Park sign Purchase and installation of new plantings in the front circle at Lions Beach this year Potential Future Project Working with the City on improving or repurposing the Lions Beach Bathhouse which is included in City s Strategic Plan as 2017 project We Care. 21 2015 Floodplain Ordinance Update Repeal and Replacement of Section (Floodplain Overlay District) and Section (Definitions) of the Zoning Ordinance:

22 2015 Floodplain Ordinance Update Map Update & Regulatory Process New flood hazard study commissioned by FEMA (late 2009). Preliminary maps and report released in Sept 2013 for local review. Revised Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) now finalized for all of Rock County. City must adopt compliant ordinance by Sept 16, 2015 to maintain eligibility in National Flood Insurance Program

23 2015 Floodplain Ordinance Update Map Update & Regulatory Process Requires local adoption of 2 essential components: 1. New Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Insurance Study for City of Janesville 2. Updated floodplain management regulations that meet State (DNR) & Federal (FEMA) standards FEMA maintains separate process to consider map amendments or revisions to individual properties
