If some other choice is needed for special diets, Linda can make that request. The usual $15.00 charge including tax and tip applies. We need reservations for the preliminary count by Wednesday, November 2 and final count must be given to the Elks Club on Friday, November 4. The first meeting of 2017 will be Monday, April 3d at 5:30PM at the Cortland Elks Club. $15 dinner and then $15 donation for Philanthropy Phun Trivia Night. AAUW NY District 3 Conference On Saturday, October 15th Kim Edgar, Sheila Cohen and Sara Earl from the Cortland branch travelled to Oswego for the day long District 3 Conference.

4 AAUW NY District 3 Conference On Saturday, October 15th Kim Edgar, Sheila Cohen and Sara Earl from the Cortland branch travelled to Oswego for the day long District 3 Conference. This conference, held every October, is a chance for AAUW branches to network, share ideas and activities, and socialize with other branches located geographically close to them. District 3 is comprised of Cortland, Ithaca, Oswego, Southern, and Mohawk Valley branches. Each branch takes turns hosting the conference. This year it was Oswego s turn and we met on the river at the Steamer s restaurant to hear about Women s Rights Under Attack. We heard from a SUNY professor about the women in politics and the politics in women, received information about Oswego s SAF House (services to aid families) programs that empower young people in relationships through education and outreach. The Title IX Coordinator spoke about Creating a Program of Reporting and Respect, and showed powerful videos about sexual assault on campus. Donna Seymour, Public Policy Committee on the National AAUW spoke about the importance of this election in regard to policy. To end the day, the Keynote Speaker, Betty DeFazio, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western NY, spoke about Women s Reproductive Health and the 2016 Election. The conferences are always interesting, educational and inspiring. Next year s District 3 Conference will be hosted by the Southern Branch (Greater Binghamton area). All AAUW members are invited to attend. Save the Date The New York State AAUW Convention will be held in our backyard this year.syracuse! The Convention will be held Friday evening, April 21st, through Sunday afternoon, April 23, 2017 at the Doubletree in Syracuse. Once the schedule is out you will be able to see that members can attend dinner, lunches and workshops without spending the weekend and paying for accommodations. Mark your 2017 calendar today!

EVVIE CURRY GIVING CIRCLE LAF CAMPUS OUTREACH GRANTS The Evvie Curry Giving Circle provides LAF Campus Outreach Grants for AAUW members interested in working with college students to host events to

Currently, the Evvie Curry Giving Circle has $50,000 in a restricted Fund that can only be used by AAUW NYS members to fund LAF Campus Outreach Grants.

5 EVVIE CURRY GIVING CIRCLE LAF CAMPUS OUTREACH GRANTS The Evvie Curry Giving Circle provides LAF Campus Outreach Grants for AAUW members interested in working with college students to host events to educate students about unfair pay, gender discrimination, sexual harassment and assault, pregnancy discrimination, Title IX violations and other issues present on college campuses. Currently, the Evvie Curry Giving Circle has $50,000 in a restricted Fund that can only be used by AAUW NYS members to fund LAF Campus Outreach Grants. The Giving Circle funds grants in the amount of $750 per event. The grants are awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year. The Westchester County Branch of AAUW has been awarded two project grants from the Giving Circle. In 2014, Mary Logan as the Westchester County LAF Chair worked with SUNY Purchase Students on two funded LAF Campus Outreach Grant projects. The first grant funded the April 3, 2014 Title IX Rally held on the SUNY Purchase Campus, in collaboration with the Feminists Organizing Real Transformation Here (FORTH) student group. The seconded funded project was held on April 24, 2014, Branch Members and students worked together to organize a march to make the SUNY Purchase Administration address sexual assault and dating violence cases on campus by implementing strict university policies and enforcing these policies. The march on campus also educated fellow students about the prevention of sexual assault and dating violence. The students also met with the SUNY Purchase Title IX Coordinator to learn more about the purposed steps to ensure a safe campus. Thanks to the generous contributions to the Evvie Curry Giving Circle, additional project opportunities are available for AAUW NYS Members to work with college students on issues such as, gender discrimination, unfair pay, sexual harassment and assault, pregnancy discrimination, and Title IX violations.
