2 Page 2 EQUALITY CARE LTD. THE OLD VICARAGE Spring Sale The Old Vicarage held a Spring Sale in April, and the event was a great success. We would like to thank the residents, staff and volunteers that attended and thank those who made cakes. The spring sale involved a raffle and tambola. And we thank the following companies that kindly donated prizes to our Spring Sale Zen Shotokan Karate Tale of Spice Cereal Partners Cumberwell Park Golf Club We are happy to announce that from the Spring Sale, we raised 357 which has been added to our residents fund. This fund helps pay for activities and entertainment for our residents to enjoy, and every penny helps this fund. Thanks again for all involved in this years Spring Sale. Absolutely wonderful, everything. Staff are out of this world, comfort and excellent food. I recommend this to everybody I know. School Visit Our Residents enjoyed a visit from Staverton Primary School. We would like to thank all the children that attended our residential home. Our residents very much loved this visit and would like to thank the children for speaking to us and showing their school work and for the entertainment. Movie Night Our residents enjoyed a movie night at The Old Vicarage as they chose to watch Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Snacks were provided. Music and Movement Therapy Hannah Guy attended The Old Vicarage to offer Music and Movement Therapy for our residents. This included Hannah demonstrating and teaching gentle stretches to our residents, whilst music was played in the background. This therapy was a great success and our residents engaged very well in this activity, and appeared to very much enjoy themselves.

3 ISSUE 2 JUNE 2016 Page 3 THE OLD VICARAGE Easter Cake Making During Easter, our residents decorated sponge fairy cakes to celebrate this occasion. Various baking items including icing and cake decorations were bought for our residents to decorate the sponge cakes and many of our residents took part in this activity. Please see the following pictures to see the beautiful and very well decorated cakes that were made.. An afternoon Easter lunch was provided after the cake decorating. Pug Puppies/Guinea Pigs Claire our home manager brought in on a few occasions her pug puppies. The residents enjoyed cuddling and stroking the puppies and the adorable puppies loved being here too as they were enjoying all of the attention. Our residents have enjoyed watching them grow, and have been asking plenty of questions about them. Lily Escott our Laundry Assistant, also brought in her pet Guinea Pigs. Again, our residents held and made a fuss of these cute animals. The Queens 90th Birthday Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, Leader of Wiltshire Council invited our residents to Trowbridge County Hall to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday in June. The day involved afternoon tea and entertainment. Transport was provided for our residents to attend. We were very grateful for the invitation, and the day was enjoyed by all.

4 Page 4 Page 4 EQUALITY CARE LTD. NEWSLETTER TITLE Staverton House Staverton Fete- Queens 90 th Birthday We held our Spring fete in June at Staverton House in honour of The Queens 90th Birthday. The fete included stalls and a raffle. Many people attended the day. The day was a great success, and staff and residents enjoyed the day. We would like to thank everyone who took part, and donated to the event. We are also pleased to announce that we raised on this great day. This money will go into our residents fund. This fund is for our residents, so they can enjoy many sources of entertainment and day trips out. The money raised from the fete is an excellent contribution for this fund. Thank you again, for all of those who attended our fete. Steve Chudley Our regular entertainer Steve Chudley attended Staverton House. He brought along his puppet and put on a show for our residents. This was enjoyed by all and Steve is always a big hit here, as our residents always love his shows. Paintings Staverton House were thankful to management to receive extra funding to purchase paintings for our residents. These set of paintings are specially selected for individuals with Dementia. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed their time painting in this art work.

5 ISSUE 2 JUNE 2016 VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 Page 5 Page 5 Staverton House Lackham Lambing weekend Our residents thoroughly enjoyed a day trip out to Lackham College for the Lambing weekend event that occurs every year. Friends and family of our residents also joined us. We very much enjoyed our day, and we also brought along a picnic lunch to enjoy. As expected, we seen many lambs. Residents also saw baby emus. We would thoroughly recommend a visit next year. St Georges Day We celebrated St Georges Day, by holding an Afternoon Tea Party. Our residents certainly enjoyed this day, and they were joined by family to celebrate this patriotic day. A member of staff brought along a beautiful Victorian Tea Set for us to use. Entertainment was also provided. Staverton House is a wonderful dementia home, it's more like a hotel. Everywhere is spotless, food menu (you have a choice) is excellent. Coffee Morning We held a Coffee Morning for relatives and family to come along and have an informal chat about any issues they have concern about, or just to have the chance to chat together. Dave and Ewe We are regretful to say that Dave and Ewe animals have had to cancel their trip to Staverton House. We are hopeful this date will be rescheduled at a later late.

6 PAGE 6 EQUALITY CARE Equality Care Ltd is fortunate enough to have many fantastic staff working in all our homes and teams. We have introduced this scheme to recognise and reward outstanding individuals and teams working at each home. This award will run every quarter. All staff, visitors and residents will be able to nominate individuals who they feel should be rewarded. If you would like to nominate somebody please speak to a member of the team who will be happy to guide you in the right direction. The employee who wins this award will receive a certificate, 20 voucher, a day extra annual leave, their picture will be posted on the designated notice board, website and in our newsletter.
