Agenda review and adoption 2. Adoption of minutes from December Board meeting a. Minutes adopted. 3. Sections and Chapters Meeting January 2016 a. Travel expense approval for Mike H i. Airfare $700, Hotel $175/night for 2 nights = $1050 plus other small misc charges (taxi, etc) = $1200 ii. Approved. b. Questions/topics for meeting from UMS i. Understand what Nationals is doing to avoid budget issues and be more transparent. Asking them to be more proactive. ii. Before giving money, have a plan on how it will be used and a plan on how things will change to avoid situation in the future. iii. Recommend supporting attendance to ACE vs giving money directly.

2 iv. Novel ideas on communication v. Can National automatically notify if webinar/event speakers are local or do we have check their website regularly? Would like more lead time for promoting events vi. Can local events be posted on National website? vii. Change in election schedule UMS still in Spring vs. calendar year viii. Appreciate monthly membership reports some minor formatting challenges. 4. Programs Planning Update (See Attached) (Mike) a. Landfill operator conference send to UMS to remind/inform b. If vapor intrusion brownbag in Jan combine with on Landfill c. Updates added in Table at end of Minutes. 5. Treasurer s Report (Jonathan) a. Will perform regular audit of finances b. Jonathan would get all records together and have small team come in and look over records and make recommendations, etc. Let Jonathan know if interested in participating. March timeframe. 6. Waste Committee (Roger) a. No update 7. YP Committee (Mike on behalf of Jen) a. Happy hour coming up, no other specific events at this time, and saving date for Earth day. Jen attending mtg. in New Orleans 8. Communications Committee (Andrew) a. Andrew should be receiving general questions regarding section through website, but only received 1 in past 3-4 months. b. Can help send out s/announcements on events. c. Working with Kathryn to post all of the COE files. d. Mike N will forward examples of monthly s from Nationals to Andrew to confirm he is receiving them. e. On UMS website change request to rephrase statement under Register for this event to cover situations when a 3 rd party handles registration (for example, Landfill Operator Conference SWANA is doing registration). Andrew will check with WebMaster to add a button that registration is through 3 rd party and point to the description where we have a link to the other website. i. May have nominal charge (likely less than $100). 9. Membership Committee (Alissa) a. Sending out membership list out today. b. Had quite a few lapsed over past two months. c. Alissa will send out to larger groups/organizations to renew.

3 d. Alissa to update list with current membership list. 10. Education Committee (Chandler) 11. COE a. No update. b. Talking about finding a successor for Chandler. Possible Co-chairs: Kathryn interested in addition Jonathan indicated Chris Marnell may have interest. a Kathryn will follow-up with CSWEA regarding payments b Rooms are reserved with down payment; includes additional rooms across hall from last year s air portion c. Mike N and Lana Tullis (CSWEA) will be meeting with last year s chairs (Kathryn and Tracy) to plan meetings d. Planning will start in March 12. Other Business a. For March Spending Plan and Audit i. Mike N would like to create a spending plan based on past years activities ii. Those interested in participating in audit, check with Jonathan b Elections i. Kathryn will be leading this; positions for ballot include Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and one Director ii. Nominations form will go out in February 13. Wrap up Action Item Review 14.
