1 NORTHEAST ALABAMA AREA OF NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS (NEAANA) Minutes from the Area Service Committee (ASC) meeting, held in Rainbow City, AL on January 14, Christy E. opened the meeting with a moment of silence and the we version of the Serenity Prayer at 3:00 pm. She reminded the ASC floor that we were responsible for clean up when we are done, to raise our hands to speak, and be respectful of one another. Betsy U. read the Area Purpose. 2 RECOGNITION OF NEW GROUPS: No new groups. OPEN FORUM: Jeri A. asked about when to bring up concerns related to the treasury position. Those concerns will be addressed during her report. Chris M. stated that Surrender is looking for artwork submissions for T-shirts. Those submissions can be given to Ladd G. Kelly S. talked about this being conference year. The 25 regional motions can be found at as pdf file. There is a workshop in South Jefferson Co. next Saturday that the webmaster will post on events calender when the information becomes available. The Regional Assembly is a one day event in Montgomery where GSR's can get all information needed for CAR. There are also online workshop's to observe. Shot of Serenity Absent No report AREA OPEN POSITIONS: Chair, Vice Chair, Alternate Treasurer, Secretary, Alternate Secretary, Alternate Literature Chair, and RCMA. P.I. needs Chair. H&I needs Vice Chair and Secretary. Outreach needs Vice Chair. Region needs all positions filled except P.I. chair and Secretary NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS: None OLD BUSINESS: 1) Audit postponed due to outgoing Treasurer not present. Facilitator, outgoing Treasurer, and incoming Treasurer met at the bank to add new Treasurer to account. (For future reference, the outgoing Treasurer DOES NOT have to be present. The Facilitator and new Treasurer can do this with a letterhead and I.D.) 2) There was an attempt to contact S.O.S. with no response. Action will be implemented per policy. NEW BUSINESS: 1) JERI A. WILL PURCHASE FOR DEPOSIT ONLY STAMP AT A COST BETWEEN $10-$15 AND BE REIMBURSED NEXT ASC. 2) GSR'S DECLINED THE NEED FOR A PRINTED BANK STATEMENT WITH DONATION RECEIPT. 3) THE TREASURER WILL KEEP ALL RECEIPTS FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS. 4) PROPOSAL MADE BY H&I FOR REQUIREMENT OF NEAANA H&I WORKSHOP TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FACILITIES SERVICED BY OUR AREA. THIS WAS SENT BACK TO GROUPS. 5) G.O.D. PROPOSAL TO STOP SENDING FUNDS TO WORLD UNTIL THE AUDIT WAS APPROVED. GSR'S ASSENT. 6) IN RESPONSE TO THE $1000 TO BE REQUESTED FROM REGION FOR LITERATURE, ACTIVE CHANGE THINKS IT IS EXCESSIVE AND FEELS THAT $400 WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE. G.O.D. DOES NOT WANT US TO ASK FOR ANY, SO THEY HAVE RESERVATIONS WHEN IT COMES TO ASKING FOR $400. OUR RCM WILL REQUEST $400 AT RSC. January 21 st Active Change group inventory at 11am. January 24 th Anyone interested in assisting Betsy U. with decisions regarding policy, meet at Waffle House in Attalla at 6pm. (Hwy 77, by Wal-Mart) January 26 th Freedom Group celebration meeting with potluck to follow. Leslie J. is celebrating 2 yrs. Speaker TBA. January 27 th & 28 th RSC in Pensacola, FL. January 28 th Scottsboro New Beginnings speaker meeting at 3pm. Eat at 4pm. Tara T. speaking, Ted S. celebrating 1 yr., Randy T. celebrating 22 yrs. January 28 th Active Change celebration meeting. John C. and Ronnie B. are celebrating, and Amanda from North TN is speaking. January 29 th Area Carpool to Freedom Group. Be there by 6:30. January 30 th meeting. February 3 rd Don U. celebrating 36 yrs. at Breaking Free. It will be a regular open CTC group inventory at 11am. ASC needs Secretary and Facilitator. Alternate RCM needed. 2 year clean-time requirement. H&I needs Vice Chair and Secretary. Both are 1 year clean-time requirement. P.I. needs Chair. 3 years clean-time required. Outreach needs vice chair. Region needs to fill all positions except Secretary and P.I. Chair. Group GSR's can find the requirements for these positions on page 9 of the NEAANA November minutes. Cedar Lodge needs panel leader and willingness to carry in Monday night H&I meetings.
