4 WELCOME In association with the Polish Society of Nephrology, EuroPD is delighted to welcome you to the 12th European Peritoneal Dialysis Meeting (EuroPD) being held in the ICE Congress Centre, Krakow, Poland from 2nd 5th October EuroPD is now established as the world leading forum for the advancement of PD treatment and research. From its inaugural meeting with 300 delegates, this year we have more than 1,000 PD specialists from over 60 countries joining us in the beautiful city of Krakow. The theme of this year s meeting is Knowledge in PD is the Key. Over the four days of the meeting, we will explore all facets of the care of end stage renal disease patients who wish to take control of their own lives and be treated at home. We will focus on how the multidisciplinary team can best work together to ensure that we put patients at the forefront of care, supporting them with informed choices, better information and giving them more control over their treatment. The topics will cover the basic medical and scientific aspects of peritoneal dialysis but will also provide a holistic approach to the care of patients. One of the innovations this year is the introduction of E-Posters. These are located on Level 1 and feature large plasma screens with interactive ipads which allow you to search all posters by theme or authors, zoom-in on detailed charts and even send an message to the authors if you want to meet with them onsite. The programme is full and varied from How to.sessions, to debates on the Future of PD and what lies ahead. We hope that you can also make some time to visit this very beautiful and historic city with its wealth of many famous monuments such as Wawel Castle just a short walk from the congress centre.
