3 In, alcohol may not be sold between the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. On New Year s Eve, New Year s Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, you may not sell alcohol between the hours of 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Barrooms, saloons, lounges, nightclubs, etc. must be closed between the hours of 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and between the hours of 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. In, there are no laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol on Sundays. The Parish of Avoyelles does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In, it is legal for customers to leave the premises with open containers of alcohol. Parish of Avoyelles does not require servers or managers to get local server or Bar Cards. The Parish of Avoyelles does not require any form of local server training. Other Regulations Grocery stores are exempt from location restrictions governing sale of alcohol regarding distances from schools and churches. Page 3 of 8 v. 0413
4 It is illegal to grant a permit to sell alcohol to a business that is within a radius of one- half mile from a dance hall or a roadhouse. It is illegal for alcohol to be sold by places that have half doors, swinging doors or having doors or other openings on the roadside of the premises of opaque glass or other material which obstruct a clear vision from the road entrance. All licensed establishments must have separate sanitary facilities for men and women. Alcohol may not be sold or served in private rooms, stalls or booths unless it is in a bona fide hotel or restaurant. Gambling is not permitted in an establishment where alcohol is sold. Dance halls must separate the area used for dancing and the area used to sell and serve alcohol by a wall that is constructed and located in such a way that patrons on the dance floor do not have a clear vision of the area where alcohol is sold. Dance halls must also have sufficient numbers of sanitary facilities for men and women. Dance halls and saloons must have sufficient off- street parking for all patrons. Ward One of Parish of Avoyelles is dry. City of Bunkie In the City of Bunkie, it is illegal to sell or serve alcohol or to remain open if you are a business that holds a liquor or beer permit between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. every day except Friday and Saturday when the prohibited hours are between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. In the City of Bunkie, there are no laws prohibiting sale of alcohol on Sunday. The City of Bunkie does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the City of Bunkie, there are no laws prohibiting the possession of an open container of alcohol. Town of Cottonport In the Town of Cottonport, there are no laws governing the hours of operation for licensed beverage establishments. In the Town of Cottonport, there are no laws prohibiting sale of alcohol on Sunday. The Town of Cottonport does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the Town of Cottonport, it is illegal for anyone to consume alcoholic beverages in any public area within the town or in a private motor vehicle. It is also illegal for anyone to possess an open container of alcohol in any public area within the town or in a private motor vehicle. 6 Other Regulations In the Town of Cottonport, it is illegal to sell or serve alcohol to someone that is known to be a habitual drunkard or lunatic. City of Marksville In the City of Marksville, it is illegal to sell or serve alcohol between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day. Businesses with a Class A On- premise Consumption License, must be closed everyday between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. In the City of Marksville, there are no laws prohibiting sale of alcohol on Sunday. The City of Marksville does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the City of Marksville, it is illegal to consume alcoholic beverages upon school grounds during athletic events sponsored by the schools. The sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited in Clarence Edwards Park, Beaut Didier- Pocket Michel Park and Women s Ball Park. It is also unlawful for anyone to possess an open container of alcohol or to consume alcohol in parking lots or sidewalks adjacent to or forming part of shopping centers or other commercial enterprises. Village of Moreauville In the Village of Moreauville, there are no laws governing the hours of operation for licensed beverage establishments. In the Village of Moreauville, there are no laws prohibiting sale of alcohol on Sunday. The Village of Moreauville does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the Village of Moreauville, it is illegal to possess an open container of alcoholic beverages or consume alcoholic beverages. 8 Town of Simmesport In the Town of Simmesport, all businesses that sell alcoholic beverages of more than 6% by volume, must close and remain closed between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5 a.m. Monday thru Thursday and between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Saturday and 1 a.m. on Sunday and 5 a.m. the following Monday. In the Town of Simmesport, there are laws prohibiting sale of alcohol of more than 6% by volume on Sunday. See above for details. The Town of Simmesport does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the Town of Simmesport, it is illegal for anyone to consume alcoholic beverages in public places used for juvenile recreational activities or on the premise of the immediate vicinity during athletic events. It is also illegal for anyone to possess an open container of alcohol or to consume alcohol in parking lots adjacent to or forming a part of a shopping center or other commercial enterprises or on any public walks within the town.
