1 ESSENTIAL SKILLS IN COMPREHENSIVE ENERGY PSYCHOLOGY Levels 1 & 2 Healing Our Clients Healing Ourselves With a Body-Mind Approach That Goes Beyond Talk 2014 LEVEL 1 DATES Pasadena, CA February 1 2 Santa Fe, NM March Ann Arbor, MI April Phoenix, AZ May :00am 5:30pm Both Days See inside for Level 2 12 CE HOURS AVAILABLE FOR PSYCHOLOGISTS, SOCIAL WORKERS, COUNSELORS & NURSES Learn simple, but powerful, evidence-supported* practices to swiftly improve the functioning and wellbeing of your clients. Master an integrative framework that allows for combining energy work with most conventional psychotherapy modalities. Develop a specialty niche in the $57 billion complementary and alternative healthcare market and reduce dependency on low-fee managed care contracts. Be at the forefront of a mental healthcare movement that deepens practitioner self care and improves client self efficacy. *There are over fifty studies showing significant experimental & clinical support for these approaches. In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy. - Nobel Laureate in Medicine, Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
2 WHAT IS ENERGY PSYCHOLOGY? Energy Psychology (EP) is a family of evidence-supported practices that combine cognitive approaches with interventions to rebalance components of the human vibrational matrix (acupuncture meridians, chakras, biofield) to facilitate rapid, positive change and optimal psychotherapeutic outcomes. EP IS USED BY PRACTITIONERS FOR: Treating and relieving those suffering from emotional challenges such as trauma, addictions and compulsions, anxiety, depression, limiting beliefs, personality disorder, phobias and stress Maximizing human performance in business, sports and the arts Supporting the healthy development and well-being of individuals and groups. WHO SHOULD ATTEND THESE WORKSHOPS? Forward-thinking psychologists, social workers, therapists, counselors and helping professionals who: Are looking for state-of-the-art therapy using the mind-body connection Want to bring rapid, deep and lasting relief to clients Want to treat aspects of PTSD in 6 sessions or less Understand that the healing relationship is necessary, but not always sufficient for true healing Enjoy using active and focused therapeutic approaches with their clients If you can make this training, do so! It forever changed my personal life and my private practice for the good! -Judy Vartelas, LCSW Want to significantly increase the value of their practice by providing a service for which clients are willing to pay out-of-pocket THE RESEARCH ON ENERGY PSYCHOLOGY There have been over 50 peer-reviewed studies conducted on EP. 18 of these studies are Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), 100% of which found statistically significant results in favor of EP (the.001 level was exceeded in 11/18 studies). These include an RCT with fifty survivors of Rwandan Genocide showing dramatic reduction in PTSD after a single session of Thought Field Therapy, an EP approach. For an overview of the research, visit energypsych.org/research CEP LEVEL 1 AND 2 WORKSHOP SERIES This series of two workshops is the gateway to ACEP s certification program in Comprehensive Energy Psychology and will introduce attendees to a comprehensive approach to EP interventions within an overall perspective that includes sound science, clinical applications and ethical consideration. You can sign up for CEP Level 1 as a stand-alone course or attend the Level 1-2 workshop series before making a decision about continuing with the full certification program.
3 WHY THIS TRAINING? Talking to people and telling them to change their thinking is simply no longer state-of-the-art treatment. A growing body of scientific research and literature, especially in the field of trauma, recognizes that the dysregulation of affect and disruptions in mood and thought are driven by the body more specifically by disturbances in the body s bioenergetic patterns. In this hands-on workshop you will learn simple, but profound client-centered tools that combine physical interventions derived from acupuncture, yoga, and other ancient systems of healing, with cognitive interventions. Collectively, these methods are known as Energy Psychology (EP). The term comprehensive means that attendees will have an array of tools that they can use to customize treatment for the specific needs of each client. Furthermore, attendees will be shown how to integrate these tools in an overall psychotherapeutic framework. CEP LEVEL 1 OVERVIEW Review theory and research supporting EP interventions. Learn to use the six-step CEP Integrative Model Learn multiple approaches to getting information from the body Learn to assess and correct system wide energy interferences that impede treatment Learn to assess and clear common blocks to treatment that increase resistance and decrease motivation for change Learn basic meridian treatment for trauma, anxiety, pain, depression, addictive urges, and negative feeling states such as shame Learn ethical issues in EP CEP LEVEL 2 OVERVIEW This workshop is only available for those who have attended CEP Level 1 Learn advanced applications of the six-step CEP model Learn advanced issues in addressing conscious and subconscious objections Learn chakra and biofield interventions for trauma, anxiety, pain, depression, addictive urges and negative feeling states Learn more advanced meridian approaches: going beyond algorithms to customize therapeutic interventions Learn to use CEP for building positive states for performance enhancement Learn advanced issues in building personal and relationship integrity Both workshops include plenty of opportunities for experiential practice. For more information about these workshops or ACEP s CEP Certification program, visit energypsych.org
4 WHY STUDY WITH ACEP? Formed as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 1999, the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP) is the only professional organization dedicated to upholding Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics in the field of energy-based psychotherapeutic modalities. Additionally, ACEP is the only organization of its kind geared toward serving licensed mental health professionals and allied health practitioners around the world who are interested in incorporating energy psychology into their work. In 2012, ACEP became the first sponsor approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists studying energy psychology. ACEP s CEP Trainers: Lynn Karjala, PhD, DCEP, is a clinical psychologist specializing in trauma treatment. She is trained in hypnosis, AIT, EFT, TAT and BSFF and has published two books. Before becoming a clinician, she taught grad and undergrad courses on life-span development and the psychology of death and dying. Greg Nicosia, PhD, DCEP, is a psychologist and ACEP past president. He founded Pittsburgh s premiere center for EP based psychotherapeutic treatment of trauma and cognitive dysfunction. He has helped to research and explore the newest psychotherapies in the last 35 years and is the innovator of Thought Energy Synchronization Therapy. Kristin Holthuis, MD, DCEP, is a Dutch physician who has lived and worked in Costa Rica for over 16 years. In her holistic private practice she combines Family Medicine with EP to enhance self-care, healing and spiritual development in her patients. She is a certified EFT teacher (AAMET, AHEFT) and a board member of ACEP. David Gruder, PhD, DCEP, psychologist and awardwinning author, was ACEP s co-founder and first president. Dr. Gruder is the founder and CEO of Integrity Revolution, whose mission is to help entrepreneurs, leaders and helping professionals Make Integrity Profitable. He speaks, trains and consults worldwide. Stephanie Eldringhoff, MA, DCEP, is a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in energy approaches in Bellevue, WA. She has been on the faculty of Donna Eden s Energy Medicine Certification Program and is co-developer of the Emotional First Aid Kit, an easy-to-use EP technique that addresses nine subtle energy systems. Michael Galvin, PhD, DCEP, is a psychologist in independent practice. He serves on the faculty of the Colorado School of Professional Psychology and as Clinical Supervisor at the Rockies Counseling Center. Dr. Galvin is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and has been trained in TFT diagnostic level, EFT, EDxTM and TAT. He is a past ACEP board member and co-author of Energy Psychology and EMDR. With increasing globalization there has been a growing curiosity in psychological practice about non-western methods of dealing with disturbances within the human organism. These methods do not rely on insight and understanding, but on shifting internal states of bodily experience. EP techniques and procedures can bring about remarkably rapid changes in the way people feel and move through the world. -Bessel A. Van Der Kolk, MD, Medical Director, The Trauma Center, Brookline, MA, Professor of Psychiatry, Boston University School of Medicine VISIT ENERGYPSYCH.ORG FOR MORE DETAILS
