1 The Springfield Area Emmaus A Message from your Community Lay Director Dear Emmaus Family, We are having a walk! Let s Praise Our God! There may still be space on September s Women Walk, so please call Dean Settles ASAP ( ) if you have a pilgrim!! Mark your calendars for November 12 th that we are hosting an Emmaus Leadership Development Day at High Street United Methodist Church!! This is open to everyone that has been on a walk. There is no cost and lunch will be provided. Come learn more about the hows and whys things are done! On the 11 th there will be training for clergy. Times and registration information will be announced at the September gathering and included in the October newsletter. Just want you to mark your calendars and plan to attend!! Also, after a recount we found we had a tie between Dan Warren and Gene Porter for logistics position on the board. After praying about this I decided to ask the men to share the position, but they would only have one vote on the board. Little did I know that Gene and Dan are good friends and they go to the same church! They both said yes to the idea. I am continually amazed at how our God goes before us! We can now praise God that both of these wonderful men are serving our community. This week I visited my friend Nancy in the hospital and I was so amazed and encouraged to see her face aglow with the Holy Spirit. She has been sick for about a year and is waiting on the results of a biopsy, but her face was still aglow! Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. Psalm 34:5. Also, years ago during one of my mother s many hospital stays she was telling me that my pastor had come to visit her at the hospital and she knew he was a pastor before he even spoke because she could see that look on his face! At the time she was a non-believer and she could see the difference So how does this apply to Emmaus? Remember your glow after your walk? Or of someone you have sponsored? Or the glow the pilgrims have on their faces at closing? Let s be the hands and feet (and sponsors!) to help put that glow on more people s faces! The walk dates for 2017 have been scheduled and now all we need are more registrations! The next walk is for men and is scheduled for February 16-19, 2017! DeColores!! xx, an Alison Nosker Phone: Call after 5 PM please or text anytime aen1979@sbcglobal.net Please write Emmaus in the subject line.

My whole week-end I said I would do anything as long as I didn t have to speak. Saturday night closing I was the first one as the doors were opened as we were lined up, to go to the Sanctuary. As I approached the alter I felt as though I had seen Jesus. My 4 th day much had not changed at home and around me. But, I have changed the way I react to life has! I ve gotten involved with Emmaus, Kairos, and giving back to the community I live in. I am a sinner saved by GRACE!! Did you hear! There is a Walk and that means there will be Candlelight and Closing consider coming! Springfield Emmaus September 2016 pg. 2
