Seven days after dosing the area and the thickness of the vascular wall were observeded by HE staining. The levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein1 MCP 1 and the macrophage marker CD68 were assessed by immunohistochemi cal staining. Results Compared with sham group the intima area increased P 0.01adventitia thickening grew P 0.05 and the concentrations of CD68added significantly P 0.05but the lumen area and integrated optical density of MC 1 did not signifi cantly change in the model group. Compared with model group Yiqihuoxuejiedu Formula could obviously reduce the intimal area P 0.05 and lower CD68 level remarkably P Compared with Xuefuzhuyu group Yiqihuoxuejiedu Formula could reduce adven titial thickness obviously. Conclusion The vessel wall mainly presents positive remodeling withadventitia thickening and inflammatory reaction in the early stage of common carotid artery balloon injury. Yiqihuoxuejiedu Formula can improve vascular remodeling effec tivelyby the reduction of macrophage infiltration and inhibition of adventitial inflammation.
