2 Oxford School Of Gymnastics Who Will Benefit? Adults Pre- School Local Schools Oxford School of Gymnastics Recreational Gymnasts Senior Citizens Special needs Groups Parent & Baby Elite Gymnasts
3 About Us Our aim is to open and equip Oxford s first purpose built gymnastics facility and offer gymnastics to all members in the community from grass roots to elite. We will provide gymnastics coaching to a wide spectrum including baby gymnastics, pre-school gym, and classes for children and adults with special needs, adult groups and recreational and competitive gymnastics. We are also planning to offer gymnastic related activities such as trampolining, tumbling, dance, aerobics and fitness. For babies, pre-school children and special needs children in the community, we are going to offer a specialised music and movement and musical interaction programme delivered by a professional. Another aim is for schools to use the facility, utilising the specialist and coaching support available and helping to enable non-gymnastics specialist primary teachers deliver the activity. We want to encourage new people to try coaching and will offer them the specialist training and send them on courses so they can become fully qualified. Who will benefit from the new facility? Children from the immediate surrounding area and due to it being the only purpose built, equipped facility, children from the whole Oxford community. Local community schools who can use the facility and take advantage of specialist coaching in an often-difficult area of the PE curriculum to deliver. Other clubs, including martial arts, dance, trampolining who can utilise the facility in the evenings. Adults offer aerobics and gymnastic style activities for adults including Senior Citizens. Special needs groups promoting inclusion and equal opportunities. Pre-school children who will benefit from the brightly coloured specialised equipment that encourages the fundamental developmental skills
4 What are the benefits of gymnastics for the community? Gymnastics encourages the development of many different skills and a healthy lifestyle. Physically gymnastics helps children develop basic motor skills, strength, hand/eye co-ordination and improve balance, flexibility and agility. Emotionally it helps children express themselves, respect their achievements and builds self-esteem thereby improving social confidence. Socially it helps to establish friendships and encourages children to participate in groups and learn to play co-operatively. Intellectually it helps children to learn about movement, follow directions and to become solvers. As a club, we will be committed to giving the local community the opportunity to learn about and participate in gymnastics. We strongly believe in inclusion and will offer a range of activities to suit the age, sex, ability and disability of the individual. We want to influence the attitudes of the community to the benefit of gymnastics and to sport, and a healthy lifestyle in general.
5 Can You Help Us? Would you or your company be willing to buy some vitally needed equipment or contribute to the work required to upgrade the building? Do you have skills or time you could help us with? Rather than donating money into a fund, we thought you might like to buy or sponsor a specific item or piece of work or donate a skill. You then know exactly what you or your company have helped us to achieve. We would be grateful of your support, however large or small your contribution. PLEASE take a look at our catalogue With a BIG THANK YOU from the Gymnasts and Coaches of the Oxford School of Gymnastics
