1 Primary PE and Sport Premium At Critchill School, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our pupils. We believe that an innovative, varied PE provision and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all of our pupils. Our Primary School Sport s Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision, ensuring that our pupils continue to make outstanding progress. What is Sports Premium? Up until the academic year 2019/2020, the Government is making available to all schools a sum of money annually to allow them to continue to develop sports provision within school and to help schools increase pupil participation in sporting activity. For our school this means approximately 15,000 this year. Click here for the Department of Education link to the Primary School s Sports Funding page. How to use the PE and sport premium Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport that they offer. This means that we should use the premium to: develop or add to the PE and sport activities that our school already offers build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years There are 5 key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement across: the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school the profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport broader experience of a range of sports and increased participation in competitive sport
2 Online reporting As a school we must publish details of how we spend our PE and sport premium funding. This must include: the amount of premium received a full breakdown of how it has been spent (or will be spent) the impact the school has seen on pupils PE and sport participation and attainment how the improvements will be sustainable in the future how many pupils within their year 6 cohort are meeting the national curriculum requirement to swim 25m competently Swimming proficiency Please contact the school office for further information on the swimming proficiency of year 6 pupils including the numbers of students who can: Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres Use a range of strokes effectively Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport Staff trained on new and exciting opportunities for learners to develop their physio and physical skills. Improvement in physio opportunities and engagement. TLE Coaching Broader experience of a range of sports and Swimming Staff members to facilitate swimming lessons each week at Creative Aquatic (yearly) Year 6 and above. physical activity Improvement in early water and swimming skills dependent on an individual s current ability Creative Aquatics Mini bus/ travel cost
4 County sporting competitions Outdoor and Adventurous Activities Additional physical opportunities Regular cross county sporting opportunities for competitive sports and activities Outdoor and Adventurous activities during the summer term with WOLT (Brokerswood). Participation in Wiltshire SEND events ( twice a year) An additional PE based activity to be led for the classes each term (6 times a year) - External visits to soft play/ bounce house trampolining/ welly walks. - Soft play/ bouncy castle/yoga opportunities to be brought to the school. An increased participation in competitive sport locally and across the county physical activity. Broader experience of a range of sports and Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport physical activity. Broader experience of a range of sports and Increased participation in competitive sports and games. Opportunity to represent the school within our community. Engagement in outdoor and adventurous activities for all to develop risk taking and social inclusion. Opportunity to represent our school within the local community. Opportunities to further develop physical skills and broaden experience of sports and physical wellbeing. Core stability, stamina, balance and co-ordination focuses. 5 Sports Premium Action Plan 17/18 - EVALUATION Description Impact (PE and Cross Curricular) Evaluation Rebound therapy Rebound therapy provision one day per week (yearly) Improvement in the following areas for all children who accessed this: Exercise tolerance and stamina. Balance. Muscle tone. Reaction speeds. Proprioception. Height and depth perception. Coordination. Eye contact. All primary aged children accessed Rebound Therapy during the school year. Resulting in weekly participation of increased physical activity. Opportunities for support staff to support sessions allowed knowledge to be shared and transferred to a wider range of staff. Links to PLIM Targets 18-19: I can develop my leg strength- I can participate in physio based leg stretches I can develop my core stability- I can happily engage in rebound therapy. Equine Therapy Students to receive weekly horse riding lessons Older students sessions to include horse care and management as appropriate Improvement in posture & core strength Self-confidence An additional experience provided for pupils to encourage physical activity on a weekly basis. Children developed core stability during this activity. Swimming Staff members to facilitate swimming lessons each week at Creative Aquatic (yearly) Year 6 and above. Improvement in early water and swimming skills dependent on an individual s current ability All primary students were working towards meeting NC minimum standards of swimming 25m. Regular weekly participation and development of key early water and swimming skills. Increase in opportunity to consolidate self-help skills (dressing etc.) County sporting competitions Regular cross county sporting opportunities for competitive sports and activities Improvement in problem solving skills. Support to facilitate risk management discussion and build self-confidence. A broad range of sports and. Children took part in canoeing, climbing, abseiling and assault courses. Children took part in competitive games with other local schools.
6 Sports Premium Action Plan EVALUATION Rebound therapy Horse Riding Description Impact (PE and Cross Curricular) Evaluation Staff training (2 members of staff for Rebound therapy) Rebound therapy provision one day per week (yearly) Students to receive weekly horse riding and horse management lessons during the Spring term. (8 weeks) Improvement in body awareness, stability, strength, co-ordination. Awards gained by students Improvement in posture, core strength, selfconfidence. All Primary aged students accessed Rebound Therapy during the school year resulting in weekly participation of increased physical activity. Two additional members of staff Rebound trained. Staff meeting delivered to ensure all staff in school recognise benefits of Rebound therapy. whilst also ensuring students take part in regular physical activity. Links to PLIM e.g., I can complete tasks independently. Swimming Outdoor and adventurous activities Staff members to facilitate swimming lessons each week at Creative Aquatic (yearly) (Year 6) O&A activities during Summer term (8 weeks) with WOLT (Brokers wood), Mill on Brue, Bounce Around Improvement in early water and swimming skills dependent on individuals current ability Improvement in problem solving skills in a variety of situations in adventurous activities, in pupils understanding of the importance and significance of rules and safety & to plan and work successfully as individuals, in pairs and in groups. All primary students were working towards meeting NC minimum standards of swimming 25m. Regular weekly participation and development of key early water and swimming skills. Increase in opportunity to consolidate self-help skills (dressing etc.) Some direct links to PLIMs - canoeing, climbing, high ropes, trampolining etc. Opportunities for skills learnt in school to be transferred to new/ different environment e.g.: I can participate ingroup activities.
